I found a 2008 FinHeaven prediction thread (http://www.finheaven.com/forums/f2/miami-dolphins-2008-season-prediction-thread-227075.html) and plotted the results out:

(If multiple picks were made by a single individual, like "9-7 or 6-10", I counted each as 0.5 for that pick.)

Coming off a 1-15 season, it is a testament to the love FH fans have for the Dolphins that no one predicted less than a 5-11 season on the thread I found.

Only one poster in the thread even mentioned 11 wins. (Wvdolphan predicted between 7 and 11 wins.) One poster (xxxsurtainxxx) predicted 12-4, a true optimist! Several predicted 10-6. For a team coming off a 1-15 season, that was an amazing display of confidence in your team!

It looked to me that there were two groups of predictors, the realists and the optimists. For a team coming off a 1-15 season (even with the Trifecta, 2 of the 3 being unknown quantities) even a 5-11 prediction is a vote of confidence. I would think there are the same groups here still today. I think many of us are realists, hoping inside our hearts the Dolphins have another amazing run, but realizing schedule or injuries or Tom Brady or something else can cause our dreams to crash (for a year...there's always next season). And the optimists drink the aqua kool-aid and say loudly "WHY NOT US! AND WHY NOT THIS YEAR!" (Dang, what do they put in that stuff?)

Honestly the 2007 team wasn't that bad. They easily could have been 6-10 or 7-9. There were several games that were lost by 3 points or less. Honestly I blame bad coaching for that season. We did better before Cam and much better after him.

7 games by a field goal or less. Cam's inability to manage the game cost that team huge. I admit I was one that did not see last year being sucessful in terms of wins or loses only wanting to see improvement. That changed to 5-6 wins and then 10 as the season went on. I know after the Az game I was concerned that we were in for a long year.

Actually if most had stopped to wonder how a team that won 9 games in 05, destroys a eventual superbowl bound Bears team, and shuts out a very good patriot team with no real QB in 06, only to win 1 game with a bad coach, massive amounts of injuries, no true experienced QB to speak of in 07, I think in knowing we now had better Coaching, an experienced QB, and no real injuries to speak of in 08, the Realist were actually the 5 wins or more...and they were right. :chuckle:

Looks to me like two actual groups, the Realist, and the keeping real crowd, that pick againts the dolphins as much as possible so not to be thought of as homers. Us Realist won out though.:woot:

2007 was really bad coaching, but do agree that alot of games could have gone in the other & 2008 was excellent coaching after what happend the year before!
