ANALYST PREDICTION Jeffri Chadiha
ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 The recent addition of quarterback Chad Pennington makes them better. They might actually win three games this year.

John Clayton
ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 Bill Parcells has turned around the roster and brought toughness to both sides of the football. Chad Pennington can get the team to six wins and eventually set up a transition to Chad Henne at QB.

Tim Graham
ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 Acquiring Chad Pennington will steady the offense and give the Dolphins a better chance to win each week. But they have a long way to go just to be considered mediocre.

Jeremy Green

DIVISION FINISH: 4 Miami will be better than last season, but the team is still a long way from making noise in the AFC East. The Dolphins still have serious concerns at QB and RB. Defensively, they are a lot younger, which should lead to more playmaking ability but also more mistakes.

Paul Kuharsky

DIVISION FINISH: 4 Being slightly more competitive will have to suffice as progress. The powers and the plan are in place, but need time.

Matt Mosley

ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 Quick, name a Dolphins player. There's Jake Long, Vonnie Holliday ... fresh out!

Mike Sando
ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 Chad Pennington brings credibility and knowledge of the division. The offense needs receivers and the Dolphins must learn how to win.

Kevin Seifert

ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 Talk about starting from scratch. At least the Dolphins got themselves a respectable quarterback in Chad Pennington -- even if it wasn't until midway through training camp.

James Walker

ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 They'll win more than one game this year, but not many more. Expect another long year in Miami.

Seth Wickersham

ESPN The Magazine
DIVISION FINISH: 3 Lost six games last year by three points or less. With Tony Sparano and a much-improved coaching staff providing more discipline and fundamentals -- and with a revived Ricky Williams -- Miami will win more of the close ones.

Bill Williamson

ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 Bill Parcells makes the Dolphins relevant, but they should still be a train wreck on the field. This team will be lucky to win five games.

Matt Williamson

Scouts Inc.
DIVISION FINISH: 4 A handful of wins would be a great accomplishment in Year 1 of this massive rebuilding project. Just don't judge the progress of this franchise solely on wins and losses this year. Steps will be made in the right direction.

Pat Yasinskas
ESPN.com
DIVISION FINISH: 4 The arrival of quarterback Chad Pennington will make the Dolphins a bit more respectable. But the rebuilding job here will take so long that Bill Parcells, who has a history of impatience, might not see this one through.

just goes to show you what predictions from the Media mean. Hey, Seth Wickersham had us in 3rd!

Remember...These are the guys you all crave respect from so much.
I crave their respect because they are all "front runner lovers". If a team is doing well they gush praise - it makes them look like they know something. I want us to do well which means I want their praise.
I hadn't noticed last year how many of them thought so highly of Chad. Many of them were right on in how he would settle the offense down and give it some respectability. They just underrated the magnitude of his influence (and that of the new coaching staff) on not just the offense but the whole team's work ethic and attitude.

Wow, thanks for putting all those together. I love to see stuff like this after a season but I hate having to look for it. I want to say you cant really blame them for their predictions, but it just goes to show you never really know a team.

Yeah, that is a joke...The sad thing is that I see a lot of them putting us in the same spot this year, putting us off as one year wonders who benefitted from a weak schedule. I feel like it will take a superbowl appearence for the "experts" to give us credit.

I think a lot of them will have the usual suspect at top, with the Bills (with TO) and Jets (with a better D with Ryan) at 2 and 3 in no particular order, and us at 4 again.

Not my opinion at all of where we will be, just unfortunatly what I expect.

Well, as long as you care what these guys that don't know a damn thing think, that's the most important thing I guess.

What it should tell you is they base their views on the previous season and that's about it. If that was how reality went, the Chiefs would be 2-14 for the rest of time.

I personally don't mind the predictions. People make mistakes, no big deal. The label 'expert' though, that's where the line gets drawn in the sand. I wasn't aware experts were idiots.

I hate to admit it but I thought they would be right. I thought Miami would have been lucky to get third in the AFC East. I'm very glad I was wrong.

Pat Kirwan predicted 8-8 and I have no link, it's from memory. Kirwan and John Clayton are the ONLY 2 "experts" I listen to.

Personally, I would prefer the Fins to be labled as underdogs. When people start predicting them to finish first, there's a risk that the players get complacent and overlook opponents. When no one expects them to do anything, the players get chips on their sholders and are out to prove everyone wrong. Remember in 2006, some of the "experts" had the Fins going to the Superbowl and we all know how that season turned out. Bottomline, there are 16 games to be played and the so-called experts' predictions mean absolutely jack-squat.

Before you all going attacking the "experts" on this...don't forget that there were a lot of "FH experts" around here that thought the same thing...myself included. I only expected 6 wins...

I feel exactly the same way as you on the underdog thing. I always love to see the negative pub. It definitely lights a fire and gives a team that "out to prove everyone wrong" type attitude. I'm not saying that the negativity being slung around about the Dolphins was the key reason for the 10 game swing but I'm sure it helped in some form. Everyone loves to prove a naysayer wrong.
