Just out of general interest, does anyone know what quarterbacks (other that henne) the dolphins were interested in before the 2008 draft?
Info would be deeply appreciated. :thanks:

if I remember correctly, there was a cheer that went up in Davie when the Packers took Brohm.

That is correct. I remember that story.

The dolphins were ready to take Henne at #32.. But when they saw Merling fall still on the board, and just ahead of Henne on their own draft board, they took him and crossed their fingers Henne would be there later.

Brohm is merely a west coast QB.. He is exactly what this regime would not select in that draft at the QB position. Brohm has a lot of issues.

The Dolphins were serious about Flacco though.. I don't know who they had ranked higher on their board - Flacco or Henne. But they really liked both of them.

Just as Baltimore was torn between Henne and Flacco ultimately deciding on Flacco.

I think we end up with the best QB in the long run including Ryan. I actually think Ryan is 3rd behind Flacco and Henne, time will tell.

I'd like to see what Henne could do throwing to guys like Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez. The Falcons could use a better #2 WR though....

here, I found this link:

I love the comments below, especially this one:

"...The Henne pick is disgusting. The Fins have way too many holes to fill for them to spend a 2nd rounder on someone who is not clearly better than Beck. This also reduces the snaps Beck will get in camp, and thus further hinders his development..."

AAAHHH the good ole days. Those comments right there were typical of some of the stuff thrown around this board for a solid year or so. Meantime I was a ****ing moron and didnt know anything because I declared Beck blows based off a few starts on a horrible team. You just cant do that. There is no ****ing way you can evalute someone based off that...............:pop:. Well.........perhaps ya can. Well I can at least. Maybe some of those Beck homers couldnt.

People want to watch games with their eyes closed and ignore the truth with their fingers in their ears.

Here's most people on this board when you were exposing John Beck.

I'm not so sure they had Flacco ahead of Henne on their board. I think they were thinking that Flacco would drop further than Henne. And were hoping they could get him later if someone selected Henne first.

Remember how many people were surprised when Baltimore picked him so high. And some had Henne going in the late 1st round.

Most of the scouts out there thought Flacco was extremely raw.

Consider that this regime likes QB's who start for a few years in college.. That's exactly what Henne did.. Flacco was seen as a long term project by most... more of a one-year wonder type.

This regime sneezes at one-year wonders.. They like players who produce for multiple years in college (when they select players early)

And of course we have the Michigan factor. Parcells likes the kids that come out of that school.

I don't think it's far fetched to think Henne was their guy all along.

At any rate, we were lucky to select Henne where we did.. And we were lucky he had a few injuries hamper him during his senior year. If he was 100% healthy that season, Henne would have been selected higher imo.

I really liked Brohm when he came out, I still think he has the chance to develop into a solid QB.

I think so too, but I kind of hope he doesn't now that he is a Bill.

They traded up to get Flacco so I think they really wanted him, but the coaching staff and FO said it was between Henne and Flacco.
