DolFan707's prediciton that, "one of our offensive linemen goes offsides on the very first offensive play of the season" brought up the idea for a thread leading up to the start of the regular season*.

Call your shot on whatever off-the-wall prediction you have for the season opener. Like DolFan707, you can go with the defeatist approach or you can be as insanely optimistic as you want (provided you're willing to eat the inevitable crow that will come on September 8).

So here you go: I predict Ricky will run for 86 yards, the starting quarterback will throw one TD and one interception, and the over-under on "# of times CBS shows Bill Parcells in the luxury suite" will be 16.

depending on how close the score is at the end of the game, i'll go under on Parcells being shown. If it's a blowout and he looks really pissed, way over. If we're winning a blowout under. If it's close and we eek out a last second win over. Beat in the last second over. I'll wait till the season gets closer.

Jason Taylor's trade rumors will be talked about 14 times.
 
I predict Ricky 120 yards and a TD. Ginn 1 TD Recieving, one kick return (kickoff or punt take your pick). Jason Taylor 5 tkls, 3 sacks, and a force fumble. We win 24 - 10.
 
Miami will be in the game all the way up to the kick-off in the 1st qtr!!!

YEAH GO FINS!!!!

i am a club level season ticket holder and die hard dolphin fan, but it seems like we start a lot of our games in the last 2 years with some kind of penalty by an offensive linemen. i hope the first play is a bomb from beck to ginn for a TD, but i was just joking and making fun of the horrendist effort by our offense since 2004.
 
I predict i will curse in front of my children more in the 3 hrs of the dolphins game than i did the previous 6 mths combined oh yeah and I ll throw something Im not sure yet, its early but it could be my remote, my tv, or even my wife depending on when she walks right in front of it!

Not bashing you at all. I just meant that during the silly (off) season, there's not much of substance to talk about and your comment about jumping offsides gave me the idea for a thread to make predictions other than the normal ones (win, loss, score, etc). Sort of like the bets before a Super Bowl.

And "defeatist" may have been the wrong word. What I meant was that your prediction was for the season to start off on a bad note, sort of a harbinger of things to come.

And I figured that any predictions in here will be lighthearted and/or venting some frustration over past performace, with a touch of optimism and -- dare I say? -- hope tossed in.

I meant no disrespect whatsoever, DolFan707...
