Our last playoff year in 2008:
After 11 games we were 6-5 and just coming of a blowout loss against the Patriots before rattling off 5 wins in a row to end up at 11-5.

2013:
The year we blew the playoffs in the last two games we were 5-6 after 11 games coming off a loss to Carolina. 3 wins followed by our two losses.

In both years

Now, what does our win streak mean in historic comparison?
Last time we won 6 games in a row was in 2005. But it was to close out the year after a 3-7 start. We missed the playoffs

If we win against Baltimore it would be our first 7 game win streak since.....tada....1985. We started the season at 5-4 coming off a loss the the Patriots and closed the season out with 7 straight wins. we went the AFCC game.

As fans we can dream and talk about games beyond the next game. If we win in Baltimore and we are looking at an 8 game winning streak against the Cardinals we are looking at history. That happened the last time in......1984. We started the season with 10 straight wins. And since fans can dream and dreaming is fun: it was the last time the Miami Dolphins went to the Superbowl.
It was also Marino's first full year as a starter.

Discuss.

There is one key similarity between 2008 and 2016.

Power running game.

I remember starting 6 and 0 in 92 and finishing 11 and 5 with an AFC Championship Game appearance. Typical fast starts and terrible finishes. It would've been preferable to start 5 and 5 and win their last 6 games.

Agreed.

This time around Miami has a Better QB, better Receivers, and unlike that year, Miami does not need a wildcat offense to be able to move to the ball or score. Miami can, run, pass, score from the ground, on a deep pass, or a short redzone pass.

All we have to do is win this coming Sunday. Then we'll be talking about a 7-game winning stream...which was last done in 1985...the last time we went to the AFC championship game!

We have a good turnover ratio also. That was another key of the 2008 team

We last went to the AFC championship game in 1992.

But the 1985 season was great, until the car crash ending in the Orange Bowl in January.

in 1993 we beat the Cowboys on that Thanksgiving game to improve to 9-2 only to crash and burn and finish 9-7 and out of the playoffs.

2008 was all wildcat and defense. Defense is not carrying this team.

Incorrect. The last time we went to the conference championship was in 1992. We lost against Buffalo at home.

In the 90s we had two MOs:
1) The saying is - it doesn't matter how good you start but how good you finish. Pretty much every year we were one of the pre-season favorites but after good starts we floundered in December.
2) We hard a hard time in cold away games. We had no running game and the snow teams just killed as in December and January i.e. Buffalo.

a lot of these streaks were before my time as a dolphin fan...

to have a real shot here...because i think the ravens are beatable this year....is very, very exciting.

there's a full team chemistry going on, from the coach to the quarterback to the defense to the special teams....i think the home games are going to be loud and i think we're going to win some of these games coming up. if we can scrape together 10 wins this season, whether we make the playoffs or not...i'll be very excited moving forward.
