I want Pennington back in 2010 but I don't think it will happen. Dolphins trade for Billy Volek. Volek will compete for the starting job but Henne will have to really suck to lose his job to a 34 year old. The Chargers love Volek but Rivers is durable and Volek never sees the feild.

Ronnie returns one way or another. Fasano and Bess get contracts.
Fergusson signs a one year deal.

I predict Anderson and Torbor will be traded and perhaps even this year before the deadline in Anderson's case.

I think JT will have a good year and return for another season.

Roth is gone

If Smiley can't stop being a sieve and Long can't handle the speed rushers i caould see Smiley being traded and Long being moved to RT.
Yes Smiley may be the best pulling OG in the league but the rest of his game stinks.

Carey could be moved to LG and the LT position would be a weakness unless Gardner,Garner, Hartline, or the draft pick can greatly surpass their timeline and be ready by opening day 2010.

Speculative Scenario:

Dolphins trade Charlie Anderson,Nathan Jones and a 6th round pick to Cleveland for their 2010 4th round pick, this year, before the deadline. Jason Allen becomes the nickel back and the Dolphins sign a young CB who can return kicks and punts. Maybe Michael Ray Garvin. His knee should fine in a month or so.

After the season the Dolphins trade Smiley for a 4th and move Carey to LG.

Dolphins trade Reggie Torbor,Joe Berger, and a 6th and a 7th round pick to San Diego for QB Billy Volek.

I'm assuming the pick for Alleman and Ndukwe will be a 5th if Ndukwe continues to start.

Dolphins have a 6th from the JT trade and at least one extra 7th from trading the 2009 7th from Carolina.

I couldn't find an official list of the fins 2010 draft picks, I may have missed one and there will probably be a comp pick for Goodman and Hill who got decent contracts and are starting. We cut Green and Wilson doesn't count so it's just Grove and Taylor who count, I think.

With Torbor, Anderson and Penny gone their should be a lot of money to sign a FA. I think Wilford is off the books as well in 2010.

I'll guess at a 6th round comp pick.

Dolphins make WR Vincent Jackson a very rich man and Patrick Turner gets cut. They finally have their big WR, and this one can actually run at NFL speeds.

Draft::::::::::::

1st.......................Travis Lewis.......ILB/OLB
I am predicting that he will indeed declare. A lot of highly rated guys have been badly burned by staying in school the past few years.
This kid has been running 4.3 forties, really! Granted, probably a lot more 4.4's and 4.5's but he has run 4.3's and bench's 380 and by the way, he had 144 tackles last year. A little small but he can add 10 lbs.

2nd...................Phil Taylor..............NT ......If he has a good year he'll defintely declare. I don't see the fight thing that caused him to leave Penn state as a problem. In fact I don't want my DL guys backing down from fights as long as they aren't the @-holes starting them all the time.
6'4" 355 a 5.3 forty I think Phil can do everything Cody can, only a little faster.

3rd.................Joe Pawelek............ILB.......I've never seen a player with so many accolades! Seriously, if you aren't familiar with this guy, check him out. It will all depend on his forty time. If he runs a 4.6, and he has, he will go in the 1st. If he runs a 4.8 like he usually does, he will go 2nd day. Maybe the smartest, most instictive player in the draft.

Dolphins trade their two 4th's they got from trades for a 3rd.

3rd..............Thomas Austin.........OG/C......Another academic all american. 6'3" 315 runs a 5.1 forty Berger or Murphy is gone

4th.............Jared Veldheer.........LT.......Students go to Hillsdale for a specific reason and football isn't one of them. This kid obviously has some serious principles. He probably could have gone to any number of top football schools in the nation. 6'8" 320 lbs and runs a 4.8, who cares if he played in division 2.

5th.............Austen Lane..........DE/OLB....The next JT............don't laugh

6th............Fendi Onobon........TE............6'6" 250 ran 4.5 flat in a workout for scouts this summer. A basketball player for AZ wildcats and hadn't played football since junior high. He walked on at Houston is on the team playing TE. Defintely a developemental player but who knows what kind of ceiling this kid has.

7th...........PJ Mahone............S/CB/OLB/PR/KR.......Character issues but for a 7th round pick their is huge talent here.

Rookie Free Agent of note: Pat Simonds..........WR/TE

Roster:

QB.................Henne,Volek,White
RB..................Ronnie,Ricky,Cobbs,Hilliard
FB..................Polite
WR.................Jackson,Ginn,Bess,Camarillo,Hartline
TE..................Fasano,Haynos,Nalbone,Onobun
OT.................Veldheer,Long,Gardner
OG.................Carey,Thomas,Murphy
C...................Grove,Austin

DT...............Soliai,Fergusson,Phil Taylor
DE................Langford,Merling,Starks,McDaniel,Dotson
ILB...............Crowder,Lewis,Ayodele,Pawelek
OLB..............Taylo,Porter,Moses,Wake,Walden
S.................Wilson,Bell,Clemons,Culver
CB...............Davis,Smith,Allen,Allen,Garvin

Denny,Carpenter,Feilds unless Nalbone can take over as LS, which I am hoping they try to do.
