Just wanted to share my experience with my fellow Dolphin fans. As I mentioned in another thread, they had 3 Miami Dolphins rookies at this event at UCLA. So I got to meet Ryan Tannehill, Michael Egnew, and Lamar Miller. Pretty awesome experience for a guy who lives on the west coast and only gets to go to live games once a year.
All the fans were lined up along the fenced-off sidelines of a celebrity flag football game and most of the rookies walked around to meet the fans and sign autographs. I first met Egnew. He was standing behind Tannehill as Ryan was signing autographs. No one was really asking for Egnew's autograph and he was just kinda looking around. I called him out by his first name and he came over to sign my hat. I told him all the Phin fans were excited to have him on the team and that we need him to score some red zone TDs this year. He agreed and said he would do his best.
Next came Tannehill, who I was targeting all along and I think I scared him a little bit. As I saw them getting off the bus initially, I was yelling "Go Phins" and "Go Tannehill", so later when he made the rounds, he recognized me as the loud, obnoxious fan. I was the only one there with a Jake Long jersey on and there were probably only about 10-15 Dolphins fans in attendance, so I was easy to pick out of the crowd. He initially was kinda ignoring me and I actually had chase him down as he was moving along the crowd, but I finally got him to sign a football. Told him good luck and go Phins. He was very humble and quiet, thanking me and moving on. It was all very hectic and he seemed a bit overwhelmed.
Then Lamar Miller came out later. He and Tannehill were moving along the crowd together and I wanted another Tannehill autograph, this time on the hat, along with Miller and Egnew. I didn't want to annoy him, so I sent my wife over. She got them both to sign the hat then I came up and started talking to Miller. He seemed the most happy to be there, smiling and thanking me for the nice words. He was pretty cool.
Also, during the event I met Dwayne Bowe (super cool guy) and had Brandon Weeden throw me a mini autographed football (my dad is a huge browns fan). I also got Andrew Luck's autograph, but he was getting mugged, so I didn't say a word to him. All in all, it was really cool and best of all free. My wife even won a Nike NFLPA Rookie Premiere gift bag from a twitter picture contest. Anyway, without further ado, here are some cool pics from my awesome day.
