2014 Coaching Data Base

Not to take away from what Nick Saban has done at Alabama, but Shula built his first title team for him. Shula took a job no one wanted and was a step or two away from enjoying true success. But as I recall, Shula didn't quite have the charisma and ability to take that team over the top like Saban. And I think that situation shows how men have limitations. Shula does well with fewer distractions, thus his penchant for being a good OC. Saban is a god in college football and in situations where people MUST follow his lead. Saban does not do very well in situations where grown men can exercise the choice to follow him or not.

To reiterate what Hayden said, "Enough of hiring position coaches and coordinators".

We need a real leader of men. Not someone who's reached his ceiling. Someone who has no ceiling.

Big name hires before our 3 OC/Position coach hires...

Jimmy Johnson
Dave Wannstedt
Nick Saban

Not being a head coach before is not why our last couple of guys failed. I also will remind everybody that no coach has ever won a Super Bowl with 2 teams.

As for Shula. He wasn't a great recruiter. He was ok, but not great. Saban is a great recruiter.

nothing will work with this process until the owner gets fixed. STEVE ROSS IS PROBLEM #1! no gm's, no coaches, trainers, support staff... no one of merit will want to come to this disaster until he gets changed.

I pray the league office/ownership council steps up and forces him to get his sh** together.

It's also that playoff record that would drive that man to improve his legacy and not just let it be.

I will take 14-2 and a 1st round playoff loss every year for 10 years just to distance us from where we are now. We need to become credible before we can pursue titles.

I know everyone will think I'm nuts, but I would take Marty in a heartbeat right now. He still wants to coach, by the way.

If Dawn Aponte survives this mess, Steve Ross is a ****ing moron.

Here are my choices.

1) Jon Gruden - Offensive mind that brings fire to the sideline. I am tired of fist pumps on fgs (Sparano) and light hand claps saying good job to everyone even when we didn't do something good (Philbin). I would rather see a coach get in a players grill and tell him WTF are you doing. He also could bring a good staff with him.

2) Marty Schottenheimer - He is a no nonsense coach that likes to run the ball and set up play action. He is a proven winner and a leader of men. I don't care about playoff record, honestly I would love to just make the playoffs. My biggest concern would be that this would probably mean Carl Peterson as GM.

3) Bill Cowher - A proven leader and winner. A Tough nosed coach. Another plus is maybe he brings Omar Khan with him.

4) Todd Bowles - A good leader and young defensive mind. He also had players respect when he was here and they played hard for him. Only knock is can he assemble a good staff and who is gm.

Notice my trend?? Hard nosed and no nonsense. That is what we need back. I want to see players playing with heart. I don't care if we have less talent. If we play with more heart we will win more games!

I know he has no experience, but Ray Horton interests me. He would take the job. He has energy. I think he would play physical football.

Another positive of Gruden. He does not throw away veterans, he actually embraces them. He likes the experience the veterans bring and isn't scared by them.

We would have not tossed Dansby to the curb this year is we had Gruden here. That was a huge mistake made this offseason. Watch a Cardinals game and you will see what I mean. Dansby has been ballin.

Gruden will have more damaging stories to come out from his past. Nobody likes him. Overrated.
