2014 Coaching Data Base

I've said it before ... Chucky's no nonsense, yet player relating style and Jay's play calling would be a pretty good combo IMO. We know they want to work together so I imagine Jay would have a title like Assistant Head Coach/OC.

Wouldn't hurt my feelings.

I must admit the idea of having the brothers working together does sound appealing. We would certainly have the leadership in our staff that we lack now.

Is there closed door conversations going on with Dungy now that he has agreed to be on the "clean-up" committee?

If you read about the 4 years Shula was at Bama, he really got hosed. He had some tough breaks in his first two seasons but had Alabama talking title for the first time in ages in his 3rd year. Unlucky for him after a down 4th year Saban came available. In hindsight I wish we had followed through and hired him after Saban left. I know he was a finalist along with Cam Cameron.

If Dawn Aponte survives this mess, Steve Ross is a ****ing moron.
The main part of her job is to manage the salary cap and she excels at that. What is your big beef with Dawn? Is it because she's a woman breaking the glass ceiling?
Or is it because she's not 70 years old like your proposed solution of Marty Schottenheimer as Head Coach and Bill Polian as GM?

When did I ever say that I want Polian?

My problem with Dawn Aponte is that she was a Parcells hire, who is a Parcells 'gal,' who has a reputation for being a combative jerk when dealing with players. Just ask Randy Starks or Paul Soliai.

I want a total housecleaning, and a total housecleaning includes all of the Parcells minions currently in positions of power in the organization.

I bump this thread for anyone interested in this talk. I still do not think Joe gets the ax.

Fire Ireland. Hire a GM.

Tell the new GM he will be allowed to evaluate Joe Philbin and decide his fate, with no pressure and no strings attached. I would support that.

Of the NFL coordinators, I'd take Darrel Bevell or Jay Gruden. Either would be an upgrade over the walking corpse known as Philbin

If Jay Gruden is willing to take the job I boot Philbin out to the curb immediately. Not just for the job he has done with the Bengals, which should merit consideration on its own, but because of the job he did in the Arena League (yes, I'm serious) as head coach of the Orlando Predators.

As a player he was a very good Arena League quarterback (MVP type of player), so he knows a thing or two about the position. He's a passionate guy, but unlike his brother, his players actually like him.

I am on board with this. Any names for GM?

I really don't know. I think with any of these front office guys you're going to have a crapshoot. All I can do is trust that the person Ross brings in will be an upgrade over Jeff Ireland.
