I have an honest question for some of you on here, when is the last tie the Dolphins nailed a draft and had so many contributors so early? 2014 is appearing to be one of the best drafts in Dolphins history

1) James- starting right tackle
2) Landry- starting slot receiver
3) Turner- starting RG
4) Aikens- primary backup at safety (should fill in for Delmas as a Starter once he is injured or leaves)
5) Tripp- To early to tell, could be a steal or could be a bust depending upon health
6) Hazel- probably won't have a roster spot
7) Fede- Primary backup at DE, could be starter in 2016 if Vernon leaves VIA FA

UDFA
D. Williams- 2nd string running back
C. Mccain- Starting Linebacker

We have 4 current starters and 3 primary backups all in one draft, and the 2 backups should be counted on pretty heavily this year. I don't know that Miami has ever had a draft that has been this successful and I credit it to 2 people

1) Dennis Hickey- the guy just knows how to find talent, hopefully he gets an extension soon
2) Philbin- I know we like to hate on his play calling and coaching abilities but he is an excellent coach for developing players and should get a lot of credit for this as well

It has been a rough 21st century for us Dolphins fans but thanks to these 2 men we are moving in the right direction!

Nice!! It's nice to finally have a draft where there are no players where we think, "oh, they just downright suck"

Just imagine if we had him for the 2013 draft as well instead of Ireland, how much different could our roster look?

Amen to that. The 2015 class is looking like it'll follow suit. Can't argue with drafting and developing your own. Worked really well at Joe's last place of employment and might just be moving in the right direction here.

Definitely still early . . . . but I think the important thing to take note is not exactly the talent, but the type of people he brought in. He took a bonafide RT in the top 20 . . . that's usually frowned on, but he got a very polished one, perfect fit, great personality, team captain . . . . and it's paying dividends. He's not a guy I think will ever have a high upside to the point where we can see him as a top tier LT, but he could be a top tier RT, and that is fine.

Same thing with Jarvis Landry . . . limited upside, but he was already so damn polished that he was a great fit for Ryan Tannehill and this offense. Plus the guy has a magnetic personality . . . he brings guys together. He is very "anti Wallace" in that aspect.

So Hickey went less upside, more about fit and personality, and I more than believe he got it right on those first 2 picks.

From there, he gambled, and I'm cool with that as Turner, Aikens and Fede have the upside the first 2 picks lacked, but the floor is lower as well. So far development seems to be going real nice.

Same thing with Williams and McCain . . . he targeted talented guys and Jeff Ireland did such a terrible job with the depth on this team it was a worthy gamble to bring in people with "troubled histories" as they could contribute immediately and really take advantage of that 2nd chance.

I definitely think in 2015 you saw some of that "Tannenbaum" influence . . . . and it was very welcome. Took the 2 best guys on the board from a talent aspect . . . which you have to do in the top 50 to make your team better. The blend of those 2 guys seems to really be working well.

The 2015 class should be interesting. I think the 1st two picks of 15 were kinda opposite of 14. Parker has major upside but his foot was a concern and has already flaired up in camp, but if he's healthy he's gonna be top flight. Phillips had some work ethic issues, but if Suh and Co. Can instill a work ethic in him he has the measurables. I am very pleased with the 14 class, particularly James and Landry.

The drafts have been better. Ireland was killing this team.

Turner has struggled. He is only starting because we have no other option. The jury is still out on his selection.
Tripp is showing to be injury prone like Misi. I have my hope on Hull or Vigil.
