Right time to get this started. I get called a "homer" and "hater" loads so lets just get it started. Magini is the new coach, he is currently ordering curtains for his new office (god I hated the Tannenbaum hire) but lets pretend there is still a chance someone else may actually be considered.

Who do you have your eye on for the early runners for what should actually be a desirable jobs:

I am asking the staff right now to add the word Mangini to the filter? Come one do the right thing!

Agreed that short of firing Tannenbaum Mangini is on deck. But I'll play along and start with Mike Shanahan, and Teryl Austin. Jim Schwartz as DC

Not a fan of Mangini especially that crappy performance the Niners put on yesterday.

It's so damn sad that we passed on the best HC in football in Arians and we're going to hire the arrogant ass in charge of the defense that Arians just smoked for 40 points yesterday.

I'm having a hard time even focusing on other coaching choices. I really thought we were getting Quinn last year. I thought there was no way philbin could be kept after that collapse and Quinn was a perfect choice. Ugh. **** this owner.

I think Kevin Sumlin will be a very successful NFL head coach someday.

I can't stand the Tannebum hiring either.. Dennis Hickey is the only competent person on our staff and he'll most likely be let go.

Ross would never hire someone who is a really good NFL coach. He wants to I'm sure, but...

He isn't going to 'like' that type or personality & want them working in HIS organization, answering to HIM.

Equally speaking, any coach worth his salt isn't going to want to hear the owner giving press conferences every other day.

Those are two mutually exclusive personality types

Look at the command and enthusiasm on display here and tell me guys wouldn't love to run through a brick wall for him...

Mike Shanahan is at the top of my list, but I think Mangini will be the next HC of the Dolphins. I could see Tannebaum retaining Hickey, but changing the structure a bit.

Last off-season, I wanted Philbin fired and wanted us to hire Jack Del Rio. Gosh I wish that would have happened!

There are a lot of coaches who interest me at both the professional and collegiate levels. However, I'd like to keep things practical and compile a list of the coaching candidates that Steve Ross will court, just so I can brace myself for the unbelievable disappointment that is sure to follow. And just to keep things interesting, we're going to activate HARD MODE and try to get to 15 names without mentioning the name Eric Mangini.

In order, I think this is who we will contact. Asterisks denote coaches that are currently employed but I think are very likely to be fired.

1. Bill Cowher
2. Jon Gruden
3. Sean Payton*
4. Urban Meyer
5. Tony Dungy
6. Jeff Fisher (if fired)

Now, once those guys have all turned us down, Ross will move on to the arduous task of actually looking for people who are willing to take the job or work under Tannebaum. And this is where we move on to phase 2 of "Roleplaying as Steve Ross" and compile a list of the WORST candidates we can think of. Here's my dream team of garbage idiots:

7. Matt Patricia (the Patriots DC who looks like a damn hobo)
8. Josh McDaniels
9. Herm Edwards
10. Jim Schwartz
11. Darrel Bevell
12. Mike McCoy*
13. Ken Whisenhunt*
14. Jim Caldwell*
15. Mark Trestman
