We are not winning the Superbowl this season...next year we could be in the conversation....but this year we no more than a spoiler and good story.

Real contenders have a bit more fortune when it comes to injuries...and are more dominant than we are as a whole.

The major injuries to key players...like Tannehill, Pouncey and Reshad Jones on defense are hard to overcome to win it all.

And lets face it....we still have a few holes to fill.

The Dolphins should approach this week and every game they have left with a spolier type attitude...play with confidence and aggressiveness like a team with nothing to lose.

Just "Grip it and Rip it"...and I will be very happy with year one of Gase and this season....the beginnings of another great era in Dolphin history!

Yeah...you can dream...but its not happening.

What would make the rest of this season fun....is the Dolphins playing with a loose and aggressive approach like they have nothing to lose....which they don't.

No one expected this team to contend this year.

Next year...with the right moves and maturation of young players...this team may contend.

Jeez, someone had a bowl of urine flakes this morning. Why can't you just let people be excited for the first winning record in 8 years?

I don't really understand the "Playing Spoiler" comment; the Bills aren't going to make the playoffs and the Pats have already locked up the division. Are you saying we can beat Pittsburgh in the first round and end their Championship hopes? I'm confident we make the playoffs at this point (I think Denver loses out). I don't think we win more than one game in the playoffs (because we'd travel to New England), but once teams are in the playoffs anything can happen; we've seen this before with the Ravens and Giants most recently.

At 1-4 I was seriously ready to throw in the towel on this team and some of its key personnel. Just had enough. Spent too much time and energy and money on supporting a team that cant get out of its way. Liked Gase but just hated being a fins fan.

Here we are on an 8-1 run, despite having lost some of our better players. Not the strongest schedule and the one heavyweight we faced beat us with a simple game plan we couldn't match.

But I'll tell you something I've said again and again in this site over the years. People inside and outside the sport routinely dismiss or devalue the importance of top level coaching. An elite coach is worth multiple elite players. Makes me laugh when posters say they would never trade a pick for a John Harbaugh.

We have a top level coach and hes showing his ability in a variety ways and with a "mediocre" playing staff, so that there shouldn't be any doubt that he's the real deal.

Belichick can win SBs with some fairly poor rosters by NFL standards. Pete Carroll can win SBs with his entire offense misfiring.

It can be done and we have a coach who- I think - can do it.

So I'm staying optimistic we can keep the streak going and rattle a few cages. Only, and I really mean only, because of Gase and his staff.

That's a losing mentality. You build a winning culture by stepping on the field each week thinking you're going to win the game. I understand we'll probably be the biggest underdog in this year's playoff field but we certainly are playing with something to lose from here on out.

I'm seriously excited about the future of this team.

Once they add talent to the D and more OL, this team will be so damn good and fun to watch.

While it's very easy to sit and conclusively announce the Dolphins have no chance at a Superbowl this year....as a matter of fact, they actually do.

It seems Vegas thinks we have a 1-10,000 chance to win the Superbowl, actually, the same odds as they gave the Denver Broncos.

We're already playing with house money, I'm excited for a potential playoff run. Let's start with Buffalo though.

We won a few games this year no one expected us to win! Our chances are as good as any other Team!
The ball bounces both ways on game day.
An injury away for some teams and they tank. Bad weather can cause stink and the hungry team is not to be played with.
If Miami can stay hungry they are just as capable as anyone!

Would I bet my truck or house on it? Hell no, but I'm not giving up on this Team until the end!

Let's just cancel the last two games of the season and tell the NFL we're satisfied for now.

Its easy to say we're not contenders without Jones and Tannehill but its not impossible.

There's no team we absolutely can't beat. With that being said, memories of the Baltimore game has me seriously questioning what Tom Brady would do to us in the playoffs but then again no game is the same

I get what the OP is saying...
Pull out all stops, don't be so ultra conservative on 4th & 1 at the 45 (esp when you are already behind 2 td's)
Lay out the flea flicker, wildcat & reverse

Make Belicheat look at his playbook like Red Beaulieu...

Go down fighting

Spoiler for who?
The Bills? Spoiling a possible winning season?
The Pats? They are already in the playoffs? I am not sure putting their dent into a possible HFA throughout the playoffs is considered spoiling anything.
1st round playoffs? For which team could we be a spoiler? Which team is a or was a Superbowl candidate? Steeler? Ravens? Chiefs? Texans? Any of these teams are on our level and it comes down to game day readiness and game day performance.
So the first spoiler would come in the divisional round: Raiders or Pats. I take that any year.

Plus I tag onto others opinion that even with a substandard roster you can do wonderful things. It all comes down to coaching and putting your players into the position to win. Isn't that one of the reasons why Belichick is considered a great coach because when he got pretty much all of his players none of them were considered valuable. He dug through other teams trash can, picked the undrafted, the outcasts, overcame injuries etc.

We won 8 out 9 games with a roster severely depleted, leftovers from years before and a first time head coach who is getting better and better. Hell yeah I take the spoiler role in the divisional moving into the AFCC game.

But for what it is worth: every team coming up (two if we would miss the playoffs and 3 if we enter the wildcard round) is a team we can beat. Technically we could lose the next two and miss the playoffs but odds are in our favor of going 1-1 or 2-0 and going to the playoffs. And that is a whole new season.

I'm having fun! and **** yeah I'll believe they can go all the way because I'm a ****in fan of the Miami Dolphins! Bring it on!!
