MOBILE, Ala. — The Miami Dolphins hold the 22nd pick in April’s NFL Draft and it’s going to be hard to pass on the opportunity to select a much-needed linebacker or defensive lineman.

But if this graceful, explosive, dynamic, pass-catching machine making one-handed catches and showing himself to be a willing blocker is available, the Dolphins owe it to themselves and head coach/play-caller Adam Gase to seize the opportunity to draft the shiniest of complete tight end toys.

O.J. Howard.Howard showed up at the Senior Bowl and practiced and participated, when, frankly, he didn’t need to. And Howard wowed fans, coaches, scouts and media in attendance.

It appears just about everyone else has come around to what was suggested early on in here. However the odds keep diminishing day by day he makes it to 22.

I think the best addition to our offense would be the ability to give them the ball at midfield once in a blue moon. Aka DEFENSE.

Disagree with idea. While he looks promising, his situation in Alabama did not let him truly show his ability.

We have other needs and while he has obvious potential, IMO it's really too much to take a gamble on a second priority position.

If he is the best player available, then you draft him. The draft should be an exclusively BPA decision process. Frequently, there are two or three players with the same rating. In that circumstance consider need if one of them fits your needs.

IMO there is no way that you can call him BPA based on what he has demonstrated. Again, not his fault, but drafting him in the first round based on his body of work is a huge stretch.

If Howard is there at #22 he definitely should be considered. Obviously depends on who else is there and what the team accomplished in free agency.

Howard is one of the most exciting players out there and he is someone who could lift the offense to an entirely new level. My only red flag with him is production. Nick Saban is a smart coach. For the life of me I can't figure out why Howard didn't get the ball more. He did come up big in some of the biggest games, though, so maybe that's not a real concern.

No freaking way that guy makes it to 22. No way! He is a top 10 player. If he is still available late teens expect baum to go TBaum.

Just remember everyone. There can only be 21 players taken before we draft. I always notice that so many people have like 20 players that are top 10, or 40 players that will be gone by 22. Taka minute to really look at how many players are really top 10 when compared to the rest and all of the sudden you see "top ten" players still on your board at 20.

So if it's a WR or QB you draft them?

If he's there @ 22 I'm down w this hype machine.

Would make everyone's job easier on the offense.

Hard not to love the idea of adding a stellar TE to an offense that has quite a few talented parts already.

While we need LB's more I've always been in the camp that thinks they are the easiest position to draft and least necessary to draft in the first round.

As long as we hit on our 1st rounder I'll be ok with him being anyone of our needs. I am just salivating at the thought of finally adding a game changer at TE. Especially if he can also block.

Red zone iso work really the only question with howard...he'll murder the seams between the 20s

Much easier to project red zone production however when you have a combo of that legit height and that level athleticism and fluidity

He's a very hot name right now. It's tough to envision him sitting there at 22. Although, I have seen mocks where the Hurricanes TE goes before him and he is there when we pick. If we have a conviction on a LBer and he's there when we pick it would be tough to take Howard. It depends where these guys are on our board. I believe if Howard is there and he is the guy at the top of our board we would stay loyal to BPA and grab him. Then use the balance of the draft on defense, OG etc. If Howard is gone I don't see any offensive player that we would take.
