I really don't understand the situation with him. Like is stated in the article, it seemed as though he and Drake were a good 1-2 combo. Maybe his shoulder is more of a problem than we know? But more likely, T-Dumb and Grier wanted to act clever and outsmart everyone when in reality than just show their ignorance.

Williams had surgery on his shoulder after the season and could miss Organized Team Activities and minicamp for the Chiefs this offseason. While that almost certainly lowered his market in free agency, he is expected to be fully recovered in time for training camp.
Whatever the reason, the Dolphins opted to sort through cheaper running backs near the end of their careers this offseason rather than re-sign Williams. They brought in DeMarco Murray for a visit and ultimately signed Frank Gore yesterday. Gore turns 35 this spring, which is 10 years older than Williams.
While this might not have been the only factor, Gore is a bit cheaper for the cash-strapped Dolphins than Williams.
Even with him taking a pay cut from $1.8 to 1.5 million from last year in signing with Kansas City, that’s a bigger salary cap hit than paying Gore the veteran minimum. Gore will get $1 million in salary, but his cap hit will be even smaller. Last year’s cap hit for the veteran minimum on players with 10 or more years of experience, for example, was $615,000 with the possibility of an $80,000 bonus.
Perhaps that savings was worth it to Miami’s management now, but during the season, Gase might lament that one of his favorite weapons slipped away when it wouldn’t have taken much to keep him.

I really don't think Williams was a priority to sign. His production at the cost of a four year vet could be replaced by a late day three draft pick at half the cost. I think there are will be 7th round picks, maybe udfa that can replace Williams. I'm not bashing him, I just think he easily replaced.

I can’t believe they referred to Williams as a weapon in the article. He isn’t good. Gore at 35 is better than Damien at 25. Williams is a low football IQ guy. If we are truly trying to get smarter, no way this guy makes the team. Now they are acting like he was some big time player.

I question many of the moves thus far this offseason. Not this one. He can be replaced in the draft in rounds 2 through 4. I'll definitely take Gore over Williams all day every day

i liked his effort and what seemed to be his desire to help the team win.

that being said, he isn't a very good player, and it still baffles me that he was ever starting over drake or splitting carries evenly with him.

i wish him the best of luck in the future.

Ito Smith - 6th round pick

Ryan Nall - UDFA

Jarvion Franklin - 6th or 7th round pick

Jordan Chunn - UDFA

Chris Warren - 6th or 7th... 6'1 250 good pass protection and receiver too

Just some easily added late draft picks or udfa backs. Draft a back in the 3rd or 4th and add someone like these four options and call it a day. These are just some of the options there are several more that could be listed. Likey more than a dozen backs, maybe 20, will be drafted before these guys.

My dream scenerio would be Derrius Guice in the 2nd and Warren in the 7th, but they're likely going a different direction. Hopefully Guice is already off the board so I won't have to regret the team passing on him.

Frank Gore's age 34 season: 1206 yards from scrimmage.
Damien Williams' career: 1210 yards from scrimmage.

I feel like you're over analyzing most of the moves made this offseason, or you're only looking at the potential negatives.

You're only as good as the people you surround yourself with. That's true in life, and it's true in football. At least in Landry's case, he was more interested in his social media following or proving his swag than he was becoming a cerebral player who used his smarts to overcome some physical limitations.

It's about effort and it's about priorities.

Sitton has proved in his NFL career that he's not only a bad ass, but he's not afraid to lead.

I think some of Miami's guys were simply collecting checks (or pursuing the collected checks) and were relying on their talents too much. When you're as talented as some of these guys, you don't really have to work at it until you're in the NFL. The rest of just coasting.

Jacksonville is a prime example of what can happen when you bring in the right free agent. Calais Campbell immediately became a leader of that defense, both because he produced at a high level and because he'd been there before.

There's nothing wrong with trying to become a smarter football team. It may have been an exodus of some talent, but it was also an exodus of some selfish/stupid/arrogant

MVPs are voted on by their football piers that actually understand stand football and what those players actually go through behind the scenes for those players. Implying that the Dolphins players would only vote for selfish/stupid/arrogant players really implies the majority of the Dolphin players are stupid for voting for such piers and that our coaching staff (Gase), general manager( Tannabum )and scouting department (Grier) are even more stupid for drafting and aquiring such players.
