Damien Williams has a minor injury concern heading into free agency. (Allen Eyestone/The Post)

INDIANAPOLIS—Dolphins running back Damien Williams was willing to play through a separated shoulder late last season even knowing he would risk it popping back out without surgery.
The team never cleared Williams, who missed the final five games, and he opted to have his left shoulder operated on after the season in order to tighten it up and lessen the possibility of a recurrence, a source said. The good news for Williams is that the recovery won’t keep him out of much. He could miss the beginning of Organized Team Activities, but it’s likely he’ll be back by minicamp and there’s no doubt about him being full strength for the start of training camp in July.

Don't want him back tbh. Would have been the perfect pairing next to an Ajayi type, but we need a bruiser to compliment Drake. I'd be cool with Williams as a third back/special teamer, but only at a minimum cost contract.

He will test FA. Miami would like him back but that is up to Damian to be back. My guess is league minimum is an ideal offer from Miami.

Personally I am ready to move on and develop the RB position behind Drake.

The Michigan kid looked good with limited snaps. Damian prevents us from seeing more.

Let him go where ever. Drake is a better version of him. Last year Williams held out on signing his tender @ 1.8 mil. I bet he wants more than that, and for anything over that- I'm either replacing him with Anderson, Crowell, Hyde, or maybe Hill. How much money will those guys want though? If it's too much, look to the draft. I hope we draft a back on day 3 regardless if we sign someone or not

I would also like to see us part ways with Williams. We can pick up a better RB in free agency and in the mid rounds of the draft.

I like DW ...but really he brings no Pow , type Bang to the backfield ...Please lets just move on
