Miami Dolphins: DeVante Parker, wide receiver

Puff pieces about Parker's potential are as predictable as the summer solstice. That excitement often dissipates once the first nagging injury strikes, as Jarvis Landry and even Kenny Stills proved to be far more reliable receivers the last two years.

With Landry gone, the Dolphins are hoping that Parker's strong finish to 2016, when he was catching passes from a healthy Ryan Tannehill, was a sign of a great partnership to come. Parker and coach Adam Gase's entire offense is running out of time to look as good on the field as it regularly does in summer newspapers.

Getting love early! Lol

Honestly I see Parker as a nice to have more than a must have. What I mean by that is we have many guys who aren't as talented overall but are smart and work hard. This includes Stills, Wilson, Amendola, Grant, Drake and Gore out of the backfield if Parker gives us his norm we'll still be a strong offense. If Parker really elevates his game to a true number 1, which would be nice to have, the offense would be even better. I guess what I'm trying to say is I expect us to have a pretty good offense with either the Parker who reaches his full potential or the same old Parker. I don't see his break out making or breaking the offense assuming he at least gives us what he usually does.

Nice one John. Reading your OP I thought you meant that every divisional team has at least one player who grew up in their respective areas. I believe that in the 1950s, the NBA had such a deal where the teams had first option on home -grown and local college players. Can you imagine if the Fins were able to lock up the best players who played their high school ball in the area. Dynasty!

Last year, the Dolphins called Parker a 'monster.' Now they're trying something new.

Parker went on to finish last season 52nd in the NFL in both receptions (57) and yards (670), 66th in yards per catch (11.8) and tied for 160th in touchdown catches (one).

With Jefferson and Christensen now in different roles on the staff, new receivers coach Ben Johnson said: “We were making these giant claims about him last year. Now just one-day-at-a-time mentality. Keep stacking good days on top of each other.”
