Miami won.
- This was a boring football game that included a 2 hour lightning delay in the middle of it. Oh, and then another lightning delay. Yippee. Also a very sloppy, weird, confusing football game.
- Minkah Fitzpatrick: Already Miami's best defensive player? Well, he's getting there. He's in the conversation, at least.
- Bless Reshad Jones. "Bless'em." Any time there is a football hanging up in the air, or sitting on the ground, he somehow manages to find it and get it in his breadbasket. Here, it's a free football. Take it. He's pretty good at returning them, too. We may have a few more games against gift-giving quarterbacks this season, so I expect a couple more big plays from Reshad down the road.
- Kiko Alonso is a decent linebacker when he's put in positions where he can do what he does best: attack.
- Where is the Dolphins' pass rush? I... didn't see much of it today, outside of one play where Robert Quinn was nearly decapitated by Taylor "Roids" Lewan.
- Congratulations! If you had 'Laremy Tunsil false start' in the pool for the first penalty called against Miami this season, you are a winner. Incredibly, Tunsil flinched again on the very next play, but it was mercifully not called. Then a hold later in the first half. Come on, dude. Nice to see Ja'Wuan James getting right in on the action, too.
- I was very skeptical of Frank Gore, but he looks fresh and excited to be here. Big issue I have with Miami's running game: It's a numbers game. We can't run when it's expected. Not even a little bit.
- Ryan Tannehill trolling Mike 'Meathead' Vrabel into wasting a timeout in the third quarter was pretty good. Unfortunately, the drive resulted in an end zone interception. Woops!
- Malcolm Butler's decision to suplex Jakeem Grant well after the play was whistled dead seemed a little curious to me. Then I remembered that Grant embarrassed him last season when he played for the Patriots.
- I think Tennessee is going to be very bad this season. Talented team, but their quarterbacks are horribly unsuited for the offense they have brought in this season. Mariota looks lost in this new offense, Gabbert is awful, and the guy they drafted in the sixth round who was a much better fit for what they want to do... was claimed off waivers by Miami before the game. With Walker now injured, they are going to need Corey Davis to pretty much carry that passing game on his back. Not sure about that.
I think there will probably be a lot of anger about the Dolphins having a sloppy game, but I was very happy with the outcome of today's game. In spite of everything -- essentially losing a home game if we're honest here -- Miami prevailed. 1-0.
