I don't know if the Dolphins are a good team. I honestly don't know. What I do know is that they are a TOUGH football team. They are a resilient football team. Maybe Gase really was on to something with this "I need a different mindset in the locker room" thing.

- I've been really impressed by Minkah Fitzpatrick early, but he screwed up horribly on the Raiders' first drive. He whiffed a tackle on Jordy Nelson that led to a huge gain and put the Raiders in scoring position. Also made a poor attempt to tackle Marshawn Lynch later in the game. Speaking of which...

- Guys, you tackle with your ARMS. Not with your shoulders. This has gone beyond isolated stuff. This team flat out does not practice good tackling form and it's a problem.

- Xavien Howard: He's gonna give it to ya. What is that, 7 interceptions in his last 8 games? First one was a bad throw by Carr, but watch the way Howard tracks the football and shows incredible burst to run past everyone and get under it. Then, a nice return. That was actually a really good play. And then the second pick, my goodness. He's not playing like a Pro-Bowler. He's playing like an All-Pro. Xavien Howard is my Wanny Warrior of this game. MVP.

- 1st and 10 after the Howard interception, Grant holds a guy on the perimeter. Miami then pretty much gives up on 1st and 20. What is this crap? THROW IT DOWNFIELD.

- The Dolphins struggled to run the ball on a Raiders defense that was dead last in the NFL in yards allowed per rush coming into the game. That was a pretty bad sign early on.

- How about that end of half series? Horrible calls. I thought there were two very poor calls against Miami followed by one offsides against the Raiders that should have been called.

- If you can't run the ball and you are being penalized a lot, you aren't going to score points. If you don't score points at home, you aren't a good football team. Gotta get that fixed.

- Akeem Spence, COMPLETELY stupid play. Landryesque.

- You may think Devante Parker is overrated, or a bust, or whatever, but our offense is better with Parker on the field. That long pass play to Parker after Oakland's second touchdown drive revitalized the Dolphins.

- One thing that I saw was on that Kenny Stills TD reception in the first half, why that stupid barrier so close to the field? Someone's going to get hurt on that thing. Someone's going to get hurt badly. Somebody get Tom Garfinkel on line one and tell him that thing has got to be pushed back.

- 3rd and long in the 4th quarter, classic Matt Burke defense. Guys confused as the ball is snapped, not even in position to play when Carr calls for the snap... awful tackling, pathetic.

- How about Ryan Tannehill? Accounted for the lion's share of Miami's rushing yards for most of the day, was highly efficient, and threw a god damn beauty to Kenny Stills for Miami's first score. Oh, threw a great block on the Wilson to Grant touchdown pass, too. Coach Gase, let Ryan attack the middle of the field more, please. Miami will score points and you will win games.

- Remember Armando Salguero having a meltdown in the pre-season about Albert Wilson? "If he isn't a slot, what is he????" - Well, Armando, do you have your answer now?

- Well, if you had Minnesota in the VIP Survivor pool -- and I sure did -- well, there's always, uh, next year.

And finally,

You gotta love Jakeem Grant. Nothing else to add on that one. Guy's an animal.

Happy 3-0! Try not to think about who we face next Sunday.

  • Howard is a blackhole and today Amari Cooper was sucked into it.
  • Again, i have to give credit to Matt Burke. He's done a good job so far.
  • The tandem of Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant deserve a nickname.
  • The type of back and forth game I've seen the Dolphins lose numerous times. I appreciate this one.
  • The refs calling those offensive P.I.'s may have been a blessing in disguise. Gase got noticeably more aggressive with his playcalling.
  • One of the biggest games in a long time next week for the Dolphins. They win next week they have the division by the deflated balls.
  • I agree, i have no idea how good this team is but so far so good.
Nothing sets up my week like a Miami Dolphins win.

I’m beyond impressed today. Seriously beyond impressed. Disappointed by the lack of rushing, but boy oh boy, that Tannehill. Unlike 2013, this 3-0 feels real.

I will sum the game up this way:

1. The iffy calls by the refs early kept Miami from getting some drives
2. The D hung in there after an awful start
3. X Howard is a budding All-Pro. We have a stud corner. It is happening. What an awful play by Carr trying to throw against him on first and ten in scoring position.
4. The speed on this offence changes games. What the heck was Bruce Arians talking about late in the game about how well the Raiders D played? Yes, against the run but Miami smartly took that and went downfield and showed the explosive plays they can make. Nice to see Parker make a field flipping play as well.

RT was the boss today.
10-1 in his last 11 games?
I hope the injuries are not as bad as they looked.
The Raiders are a mediocre team and we should have beat them.
The refs helped the Raiders at times today IMHO with questionable calls against Miami.
Gase need to stop holding back this offense and let it fly!
Good win!

I’ll eat my crow as I pretty much gave up on them after 17-7. I’m glad the team didn’t. Agree they have grit that they didn’t have in the years prior.

That barrier...I thought Stills died. Looked like a NHTSA frontal crash test.

Really tired of Gase’s first quarter playcalling. Why not be aggressive from the get-go?

My snap analysis is that we have too many over reactive fans on this board calling for Tanny or Gase’s head in the first and second quarter. Oh ye of little faith....

Great write up Wanny.

Well done. I nominate "Twin Turbos" for Jakeem and Albert.

Can we please please please stop the "Trade Parker" threads now? I have been saying all preseason this WR group lacks height and an extra dimension without Parker and I think he proved this today
