2020 practice squad and roster additions

The Lowdown on the Dolphins Practice Squad

The Dolphins ended up signing 17 players to their practice squad because they had two players who do not count against the 16-player limit.

One is Durval Queiroz, who gets an exemption because of his international practice player status.

The other is wide receiver Antonio Callaway, who officially has been suspended by the NFL. While the NFL transactions log didn't provide a length for the suspension, NFL Network reported it's for seven games.

The other 15 include 12 players who were waived by the Dolphins, along with two other familiar faces — quarterback Jake Rudock and cornerback Javaris Davis, who was in training camp this summer.

The two newcomers are defensive back Brian Cole, a rookie seventh-round pick from Mississippi State, and defensive lineman Nick Coe, a rookie free agent from Auburn.

The dozen players brought back after being waived Saturday are RB Salvon Ahmed, WR Matt Cole, DB Tae Hayes, DB Nate Holley, T Jonathan Hubbard, LB Kylan Johnson, DT Benito Jones, WR Kirk Merritt, TE Chris Myarick, DE Tyshun Render and CB Ken Webster.

Pulled the same move I did a few days ago ..

I know I'm partial as a Gator but this guy is a mega high upside guy that if he hadn't;t gotten into trouble could have been a first rounder. On suspension for a month on some CBD thing. With his head straight and acclimated could easily be the third best WR on the roster and maybe even higher depending. I think he knows it's his last crack at NFL so hopefully he surrounds himself with the right people. Mega high upside get.

His one year in NFL in '18 with Browns was pretty good.

Was a big weapon at Florida.

If Perry plays well, I doubt Calloway ever plays a down for Miami. His 7 game suspension gives other guys time in real games to show their worth/development. Unfortunately the leopard often doesn’t change its spots.

Anytime I read “hopefully he realizes this is his last chance” I just shake my head because they never seem to understand. Not impossible, though, Preston Williams overcame a troubled past. I’ll support Callaway as long as he stays committed to this team.

I'm all for second chances. But doubt he gets a third. Like you said, he likely knows this is it.

From things I’ve seen around the web, it was a 10 game suspension. He sat out 7 last season, has to sit out three more. But I’ve seen other things reported too about it.

Ahh 3 game suspension for Calloway. Now I understand the p squad add.

possible promotion after

If I understand it correctly, Calloway's troubles were all marijuana related, right?

That should no longer be an issue as players will not be suspended for that anymore.

Can he serve his 3 game or 7 game suspension on the practice squad, or does that kick in if he's promoted to the 53?
