I have been reading a ton of topics here. A lot of Miami fans EXPECT for us to have a huge offseason, with the supposebly 17-20 million dollar salary cap we will have in the offseason. Hell, I expected it too.

Then reality slapped me in the face, and saw that we have 21 free agents next offseason, and guess what? We're going to have to spend to replace those free agents.

So for everyone expecting to sign Eric Steinbach, Nate Clements, Adalius Thomas and Asante Samuel [I want Asante Samuel in this team.. :( ]; I want you to go look at our current STARTING roster and get used to those names, we may as well see the same team in the offseason UNLESS we pull some major trades [Chris Chambers, Randy McMichael both tradeable IMO..].

No way are we going to go in a bidding war for these big name players when we have about 40% of our roster to replace. There's going to be a lot of ton decisions to make this offseason.

I agree with our situation in FA, but i never expect a dolphins team to go out and compete for top free agents. trasde cc makes no sense, he had and off year with qb trouble and a system where they don't throw the deep ball. plus it would be a huge cap hit. this isn't madden and large trsdes are hard to work out.

IMO, Saban should drop his GM duties and let those in the know run things on the offensive side of the ball . It's pretty obvious that Nick is dependent on his OC when it comes to the offense and can't coach that side of the ball to save his life. Get rid of moolarkey first and hire someone who knows how to build an O since it almost looks like you guys might be rebuilding all over again. He's only in his 2nd year. Take it from a bills fan who's had to go through rebuilding every year that Donahoe was our GM. Find a GM and just let Saban coach.

How is this an off year when he only had ONE good year? He is tradeable, and let's not be silly talking about Madden in this topic. :shakeno: This is NOT a Chris Chambers debate topic.

First off, why would you want to trade him? Teams know that he is our only offensive threat, and will scheme to take him out of the game. They won't scheme to take Booker out of it. If we have a viable threat next to Chambers, his production will increase. All great WR in this league have a solid WR opposite them, IMO. He had a monster year last year with the same WR core, but I think that falls more on the side of luck given our winning streak.

Holt/Bruce Harrison/Wayne Smith/Johnson Johnson/Houshmanzadah Boldin/Fitzgerald Walker/Smith Owens/Glenn Jackson/Branch Burress/Toomer

I'm not saying that all these are great WR, but their the better of the league and they all have a solid if not good WR opposite them. However, I do agree with you about McMichael.

He has a GM. His name is Randy Mueller.

There is no secret to the conduct of a Bills fan this year. You guys were exasperated coming into this year. Heck, it's been since 1999 you have even enjoyed a record above .500.

Levy is your third general manager since you have enjoyed any amount of success.

The Bills have been through Wade Phillips, Gregg Williams, Mike Mularkey, and now Dick Jauron since 1999.

What does all this mean? You have been through three QB controversies in the same amount of time. You have seen that your backup QB (Holcomb) could not win. Realizing that you were married to Losman for at least another year, most fans come into 2006 ready to watch the team lose. Can you say "lowered expectations"? This is the pressure cooker to win that Losman faced this year. Wow!

"(Losman has) had two years now to develop," Jauron said. "He had to play a lot last year. It was thrown on him early. It was a difficult situation to be in for a young guy. So he's got a real chance (to improve in his third year). He's got all that physical talent. He can run. He's got a strong arm. He's a smart guy. He's not afraid to work. He's got a lot of upside to him. We've got to give him a chance to get it out. Hopefully those other guys competing will force the hand a little bit and make them all better."

Instead of coming around here and suggesting what we should do with the roster, the staff, ect. It would be better for this fan base if you just said -

"Don't follow the Bills example."

This is the advice I always seek to follow (in my posts) when encouraging the Dolphins fan base.

I agree with your sentiments on Mularkey, though I completely disagree with your assesment of our drafts.

Don't follow the Bills example?

The only key player we need to sign next year is Nate Clements. Sure he'll command top dollar but our team is so young that the future looks bright.

Now what are we going to do with the $33,000,000 under the cap that we expect to be at?

Adalius Thomas, resign our free agents, sign draft picks.

Uhhm. I was talking about the Bills, not the Fins. Buffalo is in pretty good shape now. I didn't understand the "Don't follow the Bills example" thing. Marv did quite well this year. And Donahoe, as big a screwup as he was (he did hire Mularkey) left us in cap heaven.

well, seems to me the bills are headed the right direction sooner than your fins. Fine, keep Mularkey. I hope Saban goes down the ship with him.

Moolarkey hasn't even proven to be an OC you want in regular season, imagine what calls he'd make IF you even make the playoffs.

Okay then , continue to follow Sabans examples. If you're happy with what you have right now . I'm happy with that :D.

Culp over Brees? Mularkey? Jason Allen? What's next?

Nice attempt to bring the bills into the discussion.

Wasn't immediately apparent that you were a bills fan.

More fandom....

You build your team through the draft. 33 million under the cap - All that it means to me is that the Bills have money to sign their players. There is no real value in free agency. Teams will keep the players that they want. The rest of them come with some type of baggage.

The keys to winning in the NFL are -

1. Keeping your assistants
2. Draft
3. Signing your players
4. A loyal fanbase

Free agency is fools gold........

This is why I come into threads that ZOD posts in.

The Bills? :sidelol:

How do I say this? Uh Justa...your Bills are not better off than the Fins...no matter what the results were yesterday.

The Washington Redskins would disagree with you...oh wait, they're actually ready to hire you as a consultant to Snyder  Aquiring players through FA isn't a bad thing, so long as it's done as little as possible, and you don't overpay. The majority of free agents end up as guys who get way overpaid for by teams who think that just that one signing will take them over the edge, and the teams that overpay for them are almost always wrong.
