I too think we are in a good spot. Our needs, with the exception of DE, are not the primary positions in football.....OLB, OG, FS and this draft appears very deep at those positions.
This draft does feel different than years past. In 2015 I knew I wanted Marcus Peters or Devante Parker. Last year I wanted Vernon Hargraves or Jack Conklin and needless to say I was pleasantly surprised when Tunsil was still available. I was screaming at TV at that point hoping it would be Laremy. Pretty glad we didn't end up with VH3. Conklin would've been nice too though.
This year, picking that much later than the last 2 drafts, it's harder to gauge who might actually have a chance of being there. Reddick's stock has sky rocketed to virtually unattainable. If Derek Barnett is available at 22, I'll actually be worried that teams have found a reason to not draft him. Malik Hooker is just a pipe dream. Ruben Foster, like Reddick, very small chance. OJ Howard? It's possible he's there.
What I do know, is that someone will be available at 22 that we weren't expecting.
Mitchell Trubisky, Deshaun Watson, OJ Howard, Leonard Fournette, Pat Mahomes, Christian McCaffrey, Dalvin Cook, John Ross, Mike Williams, Corey Davis, David Njoku, the OT's from Utah and Wisconsin?
The more offensive players that get the drafted, the better. As deep a defensive draft as it is, a lot of teams still need offense.
I can't wait to be surprised.
I know that I'd really like to see SF take a QB at No.2 and put some pressure on Cleveland to take one at 12 or move up to 22 from 33 to take one.
If Trubisky and Watson are both gone by the 12th pick, everyone who wants a QB needs to start making phone calls after that.
Worst case is no QB's are drafted in the top 12. Although if your looking to move down from 22, you'd be hoping Watson would be still be there. I am making myself nuts. I can't wait any longer.
