25 Years Ago Today, Don Shula...

That was a crazy season. From top of world to worst collapse ever. I'll never forget that one.

We go from having one of the greatest coaches in history who had his team competing just about every year to basically the bottom of the barrel. Shocking is all I can say.

Anyway...Happy Anniversary Don.

Anyone that thinks Gase is having a great year despite injuries should look at the job Don Shula did in 1993. It was a miracle we were 9-2 after Thanksgiving. Losing Marino, Mitchell and then Deberg. They still kept winning. Then injuries to the defense sunk the season late.

Shula truly was great.

But I feel he stayed on well past his “sell by” date. JJ received a lot of hate on this forum...remember the “pig face” comments like it was yesterday. It was sad and unwarranted criticism. I felt he was the right man for the job.

As for Saban? Well he was Satan in coaches clothing. He lied to us. Great college coach, but had the Lou Holtz affliction of not being able to handle grown men

That's such a iconic image(i know it's a video)

Shula is a top 3 coach ever lol..Stuff like that is what makes him that great.

Gase isn't a terrible coach either, no legend but he's decent.

I can understand how anyone can think gase is having a great year. We may have the worst offense in the NFL and he's an offensive mind. Guess he gets a free pass on recognizing backup quarterback Talent not to mention offensive line talent and consistent piss-poor starts.

Just watch other teams and see some creative plays and we have garbage. I'm not talking about trick plays I'm talking about wide receiver routes to take advantage of an opposition. The guy sucks. Man I miss a quality coach like coach Shula

Yep. Offerdahl and Vincent and Oliver injuries were just too much. DeBerg we called out of retirement for crying out loud.

Saban IMO would have been our next great coach. He got a lot out of a bad roster. He also got the team to string together win streaks - issue were slow starts to seasons and bad QBs yet he was “getting it”.

Well it’s a good thing he got a lot out of a bad roster since he was responsible for it being so bad— check out the 2006 draft, for example, or taking Ronnie Brown #2 overall, when the team hadn’t had a legit quarterback since Marino retired five years earlier.

And he’s also the one that started the unfortunate precedent of never wanting to tear down the team and do an actual rebuild. He was in the perfect position to do so, yet chose instead to bring in old veterans to inflate the team’s record without actually building a playoff caliber team.

He’s a good coach, but he’s got nobody to blame but himself for his failure here.

Saban like Satan needs to be worshiped.

That wasn't gonna happen in My Yammie.

So the royal puss bailed to a feather bed in Alley Bama!

BFD.
