My plans this weekend were to go to the Dolphins-Bengals playoff game. But with the Dolphins choking once again that match up is now Chargers-Bengals.
I have been a Dolphin fan for 40 plus years and I have seen them miss in so many ways I can't even begin to count them. I have lived in the Cincinnati area for 27 years and root for the local Bengals as long as they aren't playing the Dolphins. But with the Dolphins out I have chosen to root for the Bengals to win it all this year.

You think we have had it bad in Miami for the last decade. But the Bengals have gone 23 years without a playoff win. Double our playoff drought. An in fact I was at their AFC Championship win 25 years ago against Buffalo. That was along time ago. I started digging through some old stuff to revive my memory and found my ticket and some pictures. Come to find out it was the exact same weekend 25 years ago. That year the Bengals went 8-0 at home just as they have this year. Just too many common things popping up that make me have to attend the game. So I got my playoff tickets for Sunday for under $100 and I'll be wearing my Bengal hat and rooting for the Bengals to end a horrendous playoff drought.

Here is the pictures of the end of game and tickets. Since the Bengals had a 2 score lead fans started to make way for exits. I moved down to field level by 2 minute warning. When the final gun sounded I jumped over the wall at old Riverfront Stadium with about 100 other fans and celebrated with Bengals. I don't think I'll be jumping over the wall this time. Security is a bit different from 25 years ago. Go Bengals!

I remember the Bengals-Chargers playoff game back in 1981. I think it was the coldest game in NFL history. Dan Fouts said he got frostbite in the game. I think the Bengals won the game and then lost to the Niners in one of the best SB's ever. We would have played in this AFC Championship game had we not lost to the Chargers the previous week, due in large part to Uwe Von Schamann missing a couple field goals. We also had our chances to win this year and go to Cincy, but it wasn't meant to be.

And your a dolphins fan? Have fun i guess. Not so sure why you would have a bengals hat but to each his own.

Yes that game happened before I came to the area. I remember the loss to Chargers the previous week. It was another Dolphin heartbreaker. I was hoping it would be Dolphins Bengals but I'm going to enjoy going to a playoff game no matter the teams. Weather isn't going to be real bad. Don't think I'll have to worry about getting frostbite like Fouts did.

As I said I'm a Dolphin fan for over 40 years. I have lived and died with the Dolphins for most of my life. But I am also a fan of the NFL. So local playoff game at a decent price and I'm there.

As for the hat I went to a Bengal's game a couple years ago and forgot my hat. Vendor seats were in the sun so I sprung for a bengals cap to make the day more enjoyable. I didn't have to pay for seats so I bought a hat.

Why not? Most people have a second favorite team. And OP clearly stated that he roots for the Bengals unless they play the Dolphins. Plus the Bengals are his hometown team.

It's not like he is a Jets, Pats or Bills fan.

Don't bother with that poster. You have no further explaining to do. You already did that.
I for one am glad that you can root for a playoff team which is also your hometown team.

Have fun and go Bengals (unless they face Green Bay in the Superbowl). :brewskis:

My best friend is a big Packer fan. He has lived in the area for longer than me but also roots for Bengals unless they are playing Packers.

It was something like 32 below with the wind chill factors. I was a kid and I watched it with my mom. Felt like yesterday. Fouts and Ken Anderson

It sounds like the Packer-49er game on Sunday evening could break that record. You have to be a diehard to sit in sub zero temps to watch football. 20-30 is ok, but below 0 is crazy.

I woke this morning to sub zero temps (-5) and walked my dogs around the yard before going to work. It was brutal, can't imagine playing football at that temp
