26 points and Tannehill's impressive debut.

Exactly. First teamers take it as just another practice while rookies take it as the superbowl.
The third preseason game is when we see what we really have this year.
 
I was really impressed with RT's ability to process information quickly. After re-watching the game, I paused and rewound (not sure if that's a word) every one of his passes, and all of his decisions looked to me to be the correct ones. Even the one when I tucked it and scrambled forward for a yard, he had nothing, but I was impressed with how quickly he deduced that he had nothing. He showed good poise, touch, and accuracy. He never once had happy feet out there, which is extremely impressive for a rookie in his first game.

I must say, even though he's playing backups, I cam away more impressed with RT than I expected to be.
 
Didn't see the game but Tannehill is clearly the future, whether he is the present I would prefer to wait a season. Agree pointless getting disappointed how people who were guaranteed to make the team played. One thing I am actually a bit concerned about but just want to wait until it plays out is Wake, heard he gained a good bit of weight this off season to play 4-3 end and just concerned it will affect his explosiveness.

Yeah seriously. He needs to start getting his supposedly good training camp play onto the field. Same goes for the other CB's.

The defense will definitely take a few games, as this is a new scheme + coordinator. One thing I didnt like though was some missed tackles, especially by some of the LB's like Misi. They need to start wrapping that up, it's always been a chronic problem.

Yes, that's how many points the AFC East as a whole scored the first week of preseason. But guess who was the clear winner moving the ball? Tannehill accounted for nearly half of those yards.

I know, Tannehill didn't do that against their first unit and still has to prove himself against better defenses, but you've gotta have some kind of skill and potential to make a lot of those throws he made last night. During the TD drive (the one that counted), he went 8 for 9 and led the team 70 yards in about 3 minutes. Pretty damn impressive for your NFL debut no matter who it's against.

Defensively, the starting unit may have looked bad, but I'm not going to worry about that too much yet. If this continues for the next few weeks, then I'll become concerned. We'll see what Philbin and Coyle can do to get the defense better.

So before anyone goes on anointing this season as a failure already, remember, it's just one preseason game! There's going to be plenty of time between now and the regular season to get all the mistakes cleared away. This is a young team. There is going to be growing pains. We should know more clearly where the Miami Dolphins stand as a team come weeks 3 and 4 of preseason.

Rome wasn't built in a day and the Miami Dolphins clearly aren't going to become Super Bowl contenders within a year. But with Philbin leading this team and Tannehill's impressive debut, I feel a lot better about the Miami Dolphins' future than I have with any other coach we've had the last several years. If Tannehill continues down this road, we may get back to winning football a lot sooner than we think!

His ability to get the ball to the receiver quickly (not just release the ball because Moore can do that when he doesn't get it batted) is a major upside.

I do hope he gets the start and plays against the 1's next week to see how he does when under more pressure/blitzes.

He looked a bit shaky in terms of his "reads", and that was against future burger flippers. Stop w/the Homey Kool-Aid, already. He gets a decent grade last night, but not the kind of kudos that some are so eager to give him. Not yet, at least. Let's just say he showed that he "has all the tools", and that we have a for-real prospect.

As to whether or not he becomes a "franchise QB", I'm not God, or the Delphic Oracle or something. Are you? And after 1 preseaon game???

Just telling you what I think of him. No one's calling Tannehill the next great superstar QB just yet...so stop with that nonsense. However, he showed a lot of good things in his debut. You don't make some of the throws he made without having some kind of potential and talent. The zip, accuracy, and decision making is there.

14/21 with 167 yards passing and a TD (2 actually if his receiver hangs on to the ball) is a great start even if it was against second stringers. The guy definitely has the goods to succeed as a QB in the NFL. I'm sure I'm not the only one around here who will tell you that. If it's too "homey kool-aid" for you, don't read...move to the next post. Thank you.

My comment had nothing to do with his reads but his ability to get the ball there quickly. Also, I was just commenting on getting the ball there quickly so that has nothing to do with coverage or the quality of it.

What is your attitude for? You are reading things I didn't even say.
 
I think he studded it up myself. You have to account for the fact that this was his first NFL game. What I mean by that is that NOBODY can step on a NFL field for the first time and not have to fight the nervous, anxious to make a good impression etc, mixed with the adrenaline rush that he must have been riding. He seemed to shrug that off pretty damn quick IMO. Not to mention that Moore stank it up and this is not his first rodeo.

I've said RT should start since they drafted him and I still have the same opinion. Garrard is gone (if they have any sense at all) and the QB depth should absolutely be Tannehill/Moore/Devlin. I'm excited about the entire team this year (ireland and ross excluded of course). My concern from last night was the Oline...both 1s and 2s stank it up for the running game. Considering the defenses were not in the least bit concerned with our running game, I think RT had an exceptional debut.
