I've been a die hard phin fan for since a kid . I'm always excited about a new year. But I don't know if it's that I'm getting older or that I'm just sick of losing . But I'm just not excited about this year . I know I'm being a downer but maybe I just need some encouragement . I think the most exciting game I've ever witnessed as a fan was beating the undefeated bears . the Greg Camarillo catch in overtime . Maybe a few Dan Marino games when I was a kid . And beating the jets to make the playoffs with Pennington . I need encouragement because I just don't see this team doing much.

Hayden fox . Can you tell me why my profile still says rookie . K.?

I remember that Chicago game so well. Loved how the defence huddled when the Bears offense did, lol. And our players giving them a pat on the helmet when they made a play.

The way I see things is this ... T-Hill is quite intelligent and as tough as they come. He most definitely improved on his second year. In fairness, he had a gosh-awful OC, which one would think that Coach Philban should have saw from the get-go. And all the distractions with the bully gate issue, and the worst O-Line in history.

Now, that's all gone now, only to be unremembered achieved dust.

New OC, and I believe that Coach Philban is a pretty decent coach who had to take his lumps as well.

I'm thinking that it will take another season or so for the team to solidify.

And I'm sure you know, the goal kicker missed some very critical field goals that would have won us two games, if my memory is correct. Many games were very close.

And T-Hill plays very well considering the low amount of playing time he had prior to being drafted.

As well, T-Hill is very respected by the whole team, good chemistry for sure.

The O-Line needs his leadership obviously, especially the rooks.

On the defensive side, I'm hoping the Linebackers will be way more effective than the last two seasons. Shifting the line may indeed bring them up to royal stoutness.

You know, the coaches aren't dumb. I'm sure they see all that needs to be corrected. As well, players need to execute and with great hope, no injuries.

So I'm really looking straight forward to a great season. Everyone has to take their lumps. So I'm sure they will learn from those lumps with great encouragement from each other.

Now, on a side note, and nothing to do with our team ... I'd really like to see the unfounded and blatant criticisms that others like to post, to tone it way down. As the old saying says, think before saying. As Jesus said, it's what comes out of a man's mouth that defiles him.

As well, no more undignified posts about the man and his wife. Have some respect.

Forever an Optimist.

Another of my 2 cents worth.

Dude, I feel ya. I've not had high hopes for this team since the Shula and JJ days. Used to be that Miami would win 3-5 games they were supposed to lose (and lose 1 they were supposed to win). Since the 90's, they seem to lose all the games they're supposed to and split the games they should win. They've been predictable with the play calling both on defense and offiense. They don't really seem to have any "fire" to win and the vast majority of the time the players seem to just want to collect a check (as do the coaches). I know, there are a few players that get fired up, but we have never seemed to have that type of team where one (or two) players can "will" us to win or take over a game.
I'm still on the fence with Philbin (but leaning towards same 'ol same 'ol)....I originally thought he might bring something to the team, but it seems to be the same dull predictable game plans with narry a halftime adjustment. I know Sherman is to blame for the offense, but Philbin did hire him and gave him full reign over the group. Hopefully Lazor can bring a spark, we shall see. My guess is that if we finish .500, Philbin will be gone and Lazor will be the head coach.
Just my perspective from watching pretty much 98% of all Dolphins games since 1978.

Because you only have 236 posts. Also:

When you whine or wallow in self pity, it automatically resets to rookie.
Seriously though, I can't offer any magical words that will make you feel better other than the games have to be played. Look for certain things that improve this year as opposed to just winning. Maybe Miller breaks out. Maybe Landry emerges early. Maybe Dion Jordan when he returns. Maybe these rookies, who may not be more talented than others, contribute enough to stick around long term, because the ywill be good leaders to build on at the very least, if they are even decent players. Maybe we get a few upsets and finally don't drop games we should win. Anything can happen.

i was at the 62-7 "SHA-lacking" and drove to Pittsburgh last year for what i thought was going to ignite us into the playoffs. Our season ended with a terrible(jills), terrible (jests) losses.

But this year is new. Every year i think its our year. Climb the hill brother. Just like in life. Believe. What else you got?

Shifty is that a thing? Or did you just write that? Brilliant.

Nasty rookie....take heart, things will change eventually. I can't even tell you that THIS is our time, because there are so many questions with key things, like who is our real franchise QB, will the coaching regime survive or will we have turnover again, do we have a coordinator who will transform the offense, etc...but all you can do is take one season at a time. The players do. Even if this was the best team in the history of the franchise, it would be over in a year. I just accept what the new year brings, what each roster brings, I enjoy the comradery of the team, the determination and fight, the laughs, and just enjoy the sport and the fact that we have an NFL team and not all cities do. I know one day, we'll see something that will knock our socks off. It takes just one player to energize the franchise, and mostly we've not drafted any superstars, they've all blended in with each other in a sea of mediocrity. But one guy can be exciting and I think Landry is going to be a guy who if not a star will be a joy to watch play for us in the next couple years.

It's tough for those who weren't around for the golden years of the team, for sure.

IMO, for this team right now, with so many unknowns, of course it's show me time. They may surprise us. Best case scenario is they do, and we take a step forward, and our coordinator works out, we have a program that works, then next season plug more players into it. Tannehill will either work out or not, and if he doesn't we pull a Cam Cameron and trade up for a QB. I'd prefer that overall scenario than blowing it all up again and starting over next year with a new HC, Coordinator and even a GM. We did that with Parcells, and it didn't work out because there was no Andrew Luck sitting there at number one, we were just hitting an unfortunate draft year. Similar thing actually when Cam was HC and we had #9, and there was nothing on the board at all. We just need a little bit of luck and timing....

HOPE: New Football Season. To have football on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays.

It's actually the opposite for me.. I haven't been this excited in awhile :hi5:

It's called apathy, and I've been there for a couple seasons now. I don't expect anything from this team except non winning, non playoff years

You have to put together the entire package...a complete team...like we did in the 70's.

We have a chance to that in the next few years if the right decisions are made in my opinion.

I'm just excited for football to be back on. Pumped!! Not because I think we are going to the SB, but also I also don't see us being less than .500. Therefore I am prepared for the losses and going to enjoy the positives and the wins with great joy. If you go in to the season expecting the SB then there are 30 other teams that you will be sharing disappointment with. Just look for the good things that will happen.

I guess it's like the old saying "expect the best, prepare for the worst"
Pretty sad but at least we have football back. Something to look forward to after church on Sundays.

I'm not thrilled about this year either but for a different reason. The Spurs winning their 5th championship in 16 years this year has made me almost not care about the NFL this season. Yeah I'll watch the games, post here, and wear gear occasionally this year but I'm almost removed from giving a **** anymore. Too many years of watching other teams be so much better it makes me sick.

That quote he put up is on a Dolphins shirt the team issued to each other.
