linehand is way overated he is pass happy wtf i hope this guy goes back to minny worst playcalling i have seen in my 26 years of life horrible!!!!!!!!
2 f'n weeks in a row no running wtf linehan sucks period..

Linehan has always sucked.

He was just lucky enough to stumble onto one of the best QB/WR tandems in recent NFL history. All Culpepper ccould do is throw deep, and all Moss could do is run straight downfield. Linehan could just stand back and watch.

I watch the Vikings almost as closely as the Chiefs, and he has always been incapable of committing to running the ball.

So we went from:

Run (1 yard), Run (1 yard), Pass (incomplete), Punt

to

Run (9 yards), pass (incomplete), pass (incomplete), Punt

Brilliant.

there is zero explanation for this call. none. 2nd and 1, ok, take a shot, because on 3rd and 1 you run for the first. no it's not garunteed, but if you can't run for 1 yard, you don't deserve to win the game anyway. what baffles me the most, is we do what we are the absolutel worst at, throw long. absolutely terrible call on 3rd and 1.

I dont think his offense or teaching/development skill are overrated but I think his play calling is. I have not been at all impressed with how much we have thrown the ball, I am sure the O line being better at pass blocking then run blocking has been part of it but still....

I think Linehan is living in a dream world where he thinks Gus can throw the ball downfield. Hopefully that slap in the face from Sage wakes him up.

Those were 2 HORRIBLE back to back play calls. Ronnie busts a 9 yard run and we try to throw deep two times in a row instead of getting a damn first down and keeping the drive alive. Gus was terrible all night... what in the world was Linehan thinking?

I have no problem passing on 2nd and 1. I think it's a pretty safe bet as long as the QB doesn't get sacked or INT'd. However, I had a big problem with throwing it on 3rd and 1. IMO, the one yard gain is a near guarantee and Gus was throwing like crap all game so that's inexcusable to pass in that situation. I'm really frustrated with Linehan's pass first, pass second, pass third, if that doesn't work pass fourth offense. I'm all for opening up the offense and passing more and throwing in trick plays, but when you run it 14 times in one game, it's just ridiculous. Especially when conditions are bad and for most of the game, it was only a one score difference.

I too think we need to run the ball more but I feel diferently about Linehan at a difficult time to defend him. I think that he has put the dolphins in position to make plays most of this season...we have gotten more players open deep, more guys open on the middle routes, more long runs, more creative short routes with few interceptions and greatly reducing the td's returned for TD.....however, I think that the players have just not executed...it is either a dropped pass, or more often (and it pains me to come to this conclusion) inaccurate throws...look at things closely... I am not saying he shouldn't run the ball more but if the players had executed properly, this wouldn't be an issue and we would have run more as we would have had the leads.

I think those plays were good calls if we aren't working with a tired defense (our own). Should've run the 3rd down bomb on 2nd down and run the ball on 3rd.

ive commented on it on some other threads but im very disappointed in Linehan.
- A good offensive coordinator should be able to adjust to his teams strengths, Linehan cannot. We have a qb who cannot throw downfield but yet we keep bombing the ball on short yardage situations. We have a young running back who looks great when he touches the ball, yet we put key plays in gus' hands? it makes no sense. some of these play calls are just miserable.

I agree somewhat. His playcalling isnt the worst and if he had a qb that could actually complete a pass we would be winning more than losing. Where hemessed up is in bringing in Gus who couldnt execute a pop warner offense. If you start Gus you must run, run, run. We should be running like the 72 dolphins if gus is qbing

This is true -- we can't keep trying to jam the square peg in the round hole.
