After the hell the last 2 weeks has been feels nice to get a win doesn't it? Let's dive in.

Let's start with the QB Ryan Tannehill. The big debate is whether or not he's gotten better or if he's a bust. While he may not be on the level we want him to be, he's far from a bust or a weakness. Tanny had 2 bad throws; the missed deep ball to Mike Wallace, and his interception. The INT after seeing the replay, Tanny was fooled as Johnny Patrick pealed off his man and took underneath zone. Good scheme as much as a bad throw. Tanny's decision to run out of bounds late was a dumb one as well and thankfully it didn't hurt us in the end.

I will point out though that just because somebody throws an interception or misses a throw doesn't mean he's bad or that he's a bust. Even great QB's make bad decisions. He has improvements to make for sure, but again he's far from terrible, and if you disagree well kick rocks.

Not too many complaints about Mike Sherman for once. Still goes away from the run a bit too much for my liking (especially in a game where we were getting push) but his playcalling was much better today.

Give credit to the OL they played better even with the 4 sacks (though one was Tannehill running out of bounds). Also have to give John Jerry props for throwing a monster block on a Ryan Tannehill scramble. Still have a ways to go here, but it's progress. And for those saying the Chargers have a horrible D. Well so do the Falcons and look how much their DL dominated our OL.

Big props to Charles Clay for becoming a wrecking ball on his TD. That's the first TD in a long time I remember one of our players breaking 1 tackle, let alone the 3 Clay broke.

The defense is frustrating to me. Forced turnovers are up, and for the most part the sacks are too I believe, but the missed tackles are concerning. People were blasting Kevin Coyle quite a bit recently, but it isn't the scheme that is hurting us (well except when we go into zone coverage) our players are usually in good position, they just don't make sure tackling. The other concerning thing is how Soliai and Starks have been getting pushed off the ball recently. You guys want new contracts you have to show better than you have.

Give Chris Clemmons some props, dude is playing his heart out. If he didn't have stone hands more people would be singing his praise.

Have to lock up Brent Grimes ASAP as well. He's given up some plays due to his height, but he's really helped us out a lot.

We have already surpassed our INT total from last year as a team. Another fun fact, our CBs as a team only had 3 of our teams interceptions last year, this season the CBs have 10.

If I'm the Fins coaching staff, I'm contemplating moving Dion Jordan to LB full time. When he's asked to drop into coverage he's pretty good at it. The few times he was asked to run with Antonio Gates he did (this is weeks after doing the same with Gronk when asked to). Jordan and Olivier Vernon are also the kings of almost sacks. They both can get pressure but don't seal the deal (though Jordan has directly contributed to 3 interceptions so far this season).

All in all, a good win. Nothing to get too pissed off about, but also nothing really spectacular (outside of Clays TD). We control our own destiny to get into the playoffs which is all you can ask for. While some may laugh at the notion of playoffs, just remember all you have to do is get in and then anything can happen. Now that being said, Carolina is going to be an insanely tough game. That front 7 is probably the toughest we're gonna face this season, and I fully expect their D-Line to dominate our OL. That being said, the Carolina secondary does have guys that can be picked on especially at safety.

I like our chances against their D, but Cam and that offense will likely shred our defense. Our LB are soft and cannot tackle.
On paper we should lose, but this the type of game that we win. This set the stage for the disappointment going to New York Jets.

We already beat the Bengals and the Colts. If we get the six seed, it's very likely going to be one of those teams. So yeah, give me that six seed. You never know.

There's no need to get any more complicated or fancy than to say he's playing average to slightly below average. That sums it up very well, accounts for both the good and the bad, and is consistent with the objective data.

Ive been saying Jordan to LB for some time. Athletic enough to run with TEs and obvious ability to rush. Talent needs to be on the field.

I'd say he fluctuates between average to above average more than below average. He's had 2 bad games (New Orleans and Buffalo) and a mediocre game (New England) otherwise he's been 82 or higher in quarterback rating.

That is what is very interesting. If they can get in, Cincy and the Colts are not that good. We could go to Indy or Cncy and win. But, we will see what shakes out, that Baltimore loss yesterday was Huge. Have to beat Buffalo, and the Jets twice and see what happens..

Average is about 85.

However, there are other measures associated with quarterback play that are fairly strongly correlated with winning on which Tannehill is well below average (such as adjusted net yards per pass attempt, where he's currently 27th in the league), hence my statement that he's been, overall, average to slightly below average, considering all the relevant data in addition to QB rating.

And I'm also being somewhat generous. ;)

They have one of the best D-lines in the league. Terrible match up for the O-line.

If they get in ... and that's a big IF. This team can play with Cincy, Indy, NE and maybe ... just maybe KC. So yeah, you never know.

But we have to get there first and I while last week I was skeptical we'd win another game, at least this team bounced back to continue their tradition of mid-season false hope. lol

I'm not as keen on the X's and O's here, But isn't Jordan to long(height-wise) to play LB fulltime?

Agreed. He put up Feidler like numbers as a rookie and has shown progress. Tannehill needs to have QBR in the low to mid's 90 week in week out.

p.s. I mean the QBR w/ the drawn out formula not the Espn's subjective one which they play favorites with.

With Misi AWOL, they should be easing him into a hybrid role. He is a difference maker.

Manny Lawson has played 4-3 OLB full time before, and he is 6'6" if I'm not mistaken.

I don't think he should be there full time, but I'd love to see him out there for at least half of the snaps at LB.

I'm really starting to hate ESPN QBR. It's a total joke.
