2nd Round Draftees Contracts

Who's the stupid ones? Owners like the Texans or draft picks demanding this?
Threatening a boss with the money to pay before you even get the job is DUMB, DUMB, DUMB.

Or DUMB cubed, if that is more to your liking.

As a "calculated risk", it's still dumb - for exactly the same reasons.

Oh, you said: "draft picks", I was speed reading and read that as "daft pricks". - I guess we are both right! - LOL

What you gonna do boss, not sign your second rounder? Seems like there is some collusion going on here šŸ˜‚

TBH thinking bout it, I feel (obviously simplyfied)

contracts should be something like.

you divide it into quarters

so say you value the player at 30 million. so 30 million a year for say 4 years
you guarantee 10 million each year
10 million is then appearance based, aka 10 divided by 17 so roughly 600k a game, so each game your healthy for you get 600k. this way you get injured club dont get screwed
10 million same again based on performance, so you hit the minimal performance each game you agreed to/ play well you get another 600k a game
last 10 spilt it say 50/50 so half of that aka 5 million is bonus for over performing.. playin really well
the other 5 you do say 2 million bonus for making post season 2 million for making the bowl 1 million for winning

obviously its simple contract, but the idea is then this play is gettin 40 million regardless of if he gets injured first game and has to retire, so he isnt ****ed if his career ends.
he can get his 30 million by playin all games and playing really well, but if he over performs and makes the bowl he is effectively gettin 40 million for the year, so 10 million more that year then the intial contract value.

then no ****in rework deals during it, cause as stated i don't believe in reworks, cause I don't think demanding more money for a good year is fair.. when you sure as hell aintgonna take a pa cut for a **** year.. but this sorta contract already has the option to effectively rework your contract by an addition 5 million if you have a great year. its built in. but teams don't get screwed if you have a career ending injury or just suck.

then after the deals done you renegotiate aka, you over performed/ got that bonus 3 out of the 4 years, then move up the base lvl to what what it was with those performance bonuses, then add a new performance bonus on top incase they over perform expectations again, player gets paid, doesnt get screwed if forced to retire, team isnt ****ed if player is forced to retire

So this year it's 2nd rounders that are holding in/out for guaranteed $

Next it will be 3rd...

I can't blame them for trying I guess.
That's not entirely accurate; the only reason 30 2nd Rounders are holding out is because two teams went 'fully guaranteed' with their 2nd Rounders.

well exactly in these contract negotations the amount total is set, how thats dealed out .. power WAS, quote WAS with the teams.
like you said coming in whipping it out and going GIVE ME ALL THE MONEY when you have no power.. is r'tarded simple as. cause franchise just goes, how bout no, and now you don't get a contract and ride the pine.. and then other franchise will see this atitude from the player and go.. gg skip go next.

but moment a team does give into this stupidity the bar is now set, and the player now has more power/ all the power in the negotiation .

sooo regardless of the details, texans are absolute ****in morons for giving this deal, cause now this is gonna be the standard every year, precedent is set.. theres no going back.. nice one WANKERS

As long as both sides agree, my opinion is irrelevant, and so is yours. - LOL

The owners can do whatever they want, within the constraints of the NFL's player salary requirements.

Notice that within those same constraints the players can either accept what's given, ask for more with no guarantees they will get a response, or they can just walk away from any offers they don't like.

That's pretty much all there is to it.

you are not wrong, in the end what we say means **** all in how things will be.

but I do have a really important question.. so texans gm, what do you think his favourite flavor or crayon is???.. I am leaning towards purple

This is a great concept except for one thing, the "Show me the money whores", the Agents. This may be their only chance at a 'slice of the pie', They are not young impressionable kids who love football, they are leaches who have convinced a 20 year old kid that they are golden. It doesn't matter if they are or not, the 'agent' is just doing his job, but knows to the penny what is his share of his conquest. It's like Ukraine, they'll fight to our last dollar.

Its funny you say this, was exactly what me and my father said bout it.. and he used that exact quote

I likened agents to ****roachs, but sadly at this point there so ingrained in all sports you cannot remove them. but you are not wrong, agents grimmer worm tongueing into the ears of players has caused alot of the problems in regards to contracts
