my hope is that the players win out - that's who I generally side with in contract situations. Just give the kids their damned money. The precedent has already been set by the Texans and then the Browns, so whether it happens this year or next, it's only a matter of time before all 2nd round picks get full guarantees. The league is obviously struggling to accept this new paradigm - that's the whole reason for this standoff. But they're going to have to accept it sooner than later.

Void years are the biggest joke in both NFL and MLB now. Ohtani's contract is an embarrassment. The Eagles have built a monster mortgaging the next decade. According to a Feb 2025 USA today article, the Eagles were ranked #1 in the NFL in void money, with $390.4M in void years. SF was second, almost $185M less. Miami had $70.6M. Jalen Hurts has ~$100M in void years, AJ Brown with $50M, Lane Johnson, Mailata, Barkley and Smith all $30M+.

Who cares they won a Super Bowl. Gladly give up the next decade for a Super Bowl win.
