assuming that we get cutler in the first (dont make this a draft cutler or dont draft cutler post, its the most popular pick as of now) what 2nd round prospect would you be the hapiest with?

C greg eslinger - if he fell to us at 45-50, would you pick him up? best rated center in the nation....
OT andrew whitworth - lsu tackle reunited with saban
DT gabe watson - considered top of the first round before this year, still a good , BIG tackle prospect
CBs jared allen/will blackmon/alan zemaitis - 3 of the middle tier coreners avaible, rated behind huff, hill, and williams (the first tirer of CBs)

which would you be the happiest picking up? a C if eslinger fell to us? is mckinney enough to not draft the top center in the nation?
do we need depth at DT and go with a DT like watson?
Do we need to put young depth in the backfield alongside madison daniels and poole? which would you all prefer? (i personally would love to see eslinger come in and battle/ beat mckinney for the starting C spot)
if you have any good 2nd round prospects post them here

i think max-gean gilles would be perfect in a fins uni and perfect for us.he is such a good o-linemen

i would want us to grab a defencive lineman for the 3-4 of the future or a wide reciever or a lineman or a cornerback/safety or even a linebacker. the dolpnis are in a good postition in this up coming draft. i hope and expect us to trade up or stay put and draft the QB of the future but in rounds 2,3,4,5,6,and 7(thank god our gms didn't trade all our picksex. like tradind a 3rd pick to move up two spots to get Carey who would have fallen to us, or like tradeing a future 2nd round pick for 3rd round pick morlon greenwood) we can take the best person available my favorites are linebacker and o-line because in this draft those positions are pilled high with talent and we could grab a good one. i would love to get abdul hodge of whitworth

Assuming that we spent our 1st rounder on a different position, I'd go with a Linebacker. I like Nicholson for instance.

nicholson, olb, fla st or howard, olb, utep. i'd be happy with whitworth or eslinger as well. what about mangold at c if he drops down, or one of the other premiere talents at OT? it's all gonna come down to who's available, so O Line, Linebacker and Secondary, whichever position has the best available player.

alan zemaitis is from 5 min away from my hometown, i like the way he plays, i would like to pick him up

zach thomas, channing crowder, donnie spragan, possibly junior seau....even jason taylor in the 3-4......must be get another LB in the first 2 rds? unless a miracle happens where one of the elite OLbs falls a lot (wont happen) then i dont see why wed get a LB in the second. i think eslinger or gilles would be perfect fits, but i dont think gilles lasts to our pick, too out of our reach. i think that CB is a place where we will pick up a good FA to come in and play (not law or clments, but someone) therefore in the second, i think we addess OTs. saban will know whether or not whitworth is a must have (like carlos rogers was until he slipped away a couple of spots up) or a pass....

btw, is mcintosh our starting LT next year? -_-

to be honest, after the success of last year's draft and the coaching job done this year, whatever coach saban and muellar do in the '06 draft is perfectly fine with me - they obviously have a hand on what is needed...

BPA.

In my opinion we'll definatly look at a pass rushing OLB like Bobby Carpenter or Manny Lawson(he was a DE in college, but he projects to be an OLB in both a 34 and 4-3.

also what you said about Az,Blackmon and Allen being 2nd tier.
Allen would be the 2nd rated CB had it not been for his hip injury, Blackmon fell off the map because of moving to WR. Zematis IMO is the 4th best corner in the draft. He doesn't get a lot of picks because he literally takes away half the field.

Eslinger would be a nice pickup.

Assuming we are taking BPA and all these choices grade out exactly the same, I'd say OT. Theoretically, now you'd have a road grader/brick wall of a tackle to protect you're rookie franchise qb and plow the road for Ronnie Brown. Offense is pretty set for years to come and we oughta be blowing people out at that point. Saban showed the ability to find defensive gems in later rounds (Crowder/Daniels).

Yeah I don't agree with taking an OG in round 1, but if MJG is there in round 2 that would be hard to pass up. Round 2 candidates I like are Bobby Carpenter (if he falls), Jason Allen (if he falls), Daryn Colledge, Claude Wroten (if he falls), possibly Cameron Vaughn (if he leaps up the boards the way I think he will), Demario Minter, LaRon Landry (if he falls), Darnall Bing (if he falls), Greg Blue, Patrick Willis, Manny Lawson, Ray Edwards, Eric Winston (if he falls), Marcedes Lewis, Hank Baskett, Darrell Hackney, and Brodie Croyle.

There's a lot of evaluation to be done between now and then. Some of those guys will leap into obvious first round status, and some of them will sink lower and lower making them not appropriate in the 2nd round.

Based on lasr years draft IMO Saban will most likely take a player that may have fallen in the draft due to a year of bad performance but a good combine. He took Crowder and Brown after he saw what they did in the combine. We will all have to watch the combine and then get a good idea of what the Dolphins will get. He is also not worried about taken someone with a bad rep which will be interesting in this years FA. I am feeling that Saban might look Brooks way.

Brown and Crowder did not have bad final seasons though. Both had very good final seasons.

If anything what last year's draft shows is that who we take on the OL will depend in large part on who Hudson Houck shows interest in and begins scouting heavily...and at all positions along the defense who we take will be severely biased towards guys Saban knows, has had a lot of experience playing against, or has been coached by guys he knows and trusts. Along that vein look for SEC players on defense, as well as players from WVU, Iowa, and USC.

On offense it is a bit harder to say who Saban will show tendency towards. He certainly seemed favored toward Ronnie Brown based on his experiences facing Ronnie in the SEC. At QB it is a bit tougher to say, but I think it is safe to say that he really liked Tom Brady coming out of college and Belichick may have taken Brady in part based on those Saban-Belichick brain storms that they use to have every off season. Brady and Brown are pretty similar in that Saban and his coaches came away from both players when they played them saying to themselves "Jesus this guy is KILLING us." In that way, it wouldn't have surprised me to see Saban lean toward Matt Jones if he had a later pick in the first round of last year's draft. They may have even tried to make him a QB. The one thing about QB is that Saban seems to listen very closely to what Scott Linehan says as far as which QBs to go for. The guys you pay a premium for are the guys that have size, arm, and mobility. The rest of them are guys that have some sort of imperfect balance of those three. In that vein it doesn't surprise me at all that the guys that strike them hardest upon first glance are Vince Young and Jay Cutler, but not Rivers or Leinart.

I look forward to this draft. I think Saban's tendencies are relatively easy to figure out compared with some guys.

A Safety would be nice, but if we don't get a FA OLB, I'd like to draft a OLB.
