As far as cap room is concerend, don't forget we will be saving the salary of our 2nd round draft pick (traded to Minn.),

No 2nd round draft pick = No 2nd round salary to pay.

More salary $$$ for FA !!!!

2nd round picks really dont make that much, and will only gives us a little savings but yea i guess there is a postive to trading the second rounder

you do have a point but i would of loved to have the pick to get the center from LSU or somthing !

I can't imagine Nick will settle with not having a second round pick. Unless he thinks the later rounds still will have quality players, I see some movement happening and us getting a second round and/or another 3rd. There are those few exceptions which come along in the late rounds, but usually the top 3 are where most of the talent really lies. Nick knows that and will make some moves to get us at least 3 if not 4 picks in the first 3 rounds.

You'd rather have a center who's name you don't know than Daunte Culpepper. That is ridiculous. :shakeno:

Daunte Culpepper's salary and cap figures are both well above what a second-round pick's would be.

We gained alot from the 2nd we had...A overated QB with a bum knee..Its not the name its the Player and Pep isnt it.

Yes, but you must also subtract Frerotte's 4.3 million.

Not a big savings, in 2005 Roth (#48) counted $427,000 against the salary cap.

you people discussed me....
what you are telling me is that a top 3 QB who looses his #1 reciever, changes offensive coordinators, and offensive schemes, and has no running game, and has no Oline... has 4 bad games in the first of the year and that makes him a bum...

rediculous!

Actually, the salary of a comparable FA will cost us more money than the pick...you expect that a 2nd rounder will either be a starter or at least a major contributor...For a FA to come in and be a starter, its going to cost more than the draftee...
