The Dolphins are carefully studying several potential concerns in the mix at No. 13, including UF’s Vernon Hargreaves, Ohio State’s Eli Apple and Clemson’s Mackensie Alexander.
But we’ve found a wide range of opinion about those three, especially the last two. One example: While Todd McShay has Hargreaves going ninth, he has Apple lasting all the way to the 25th pick and Alexander not going until the 38th pick.
By contrast, draftnik Tony Pauline said Apple and Alexander are both worthy of consideration at No. 13.
So there are definitely mixed opinions.
By the way, McShay has Houston cornerback William Jackson as the fourth cornerback off the board, going 28th --- behind FSU safety/corner Jalen Ramsey (third), Hargreaves and Apple.
• Adam Gase expects defensive end to be one of the most competitive positions in training camp, with Mario Williams, Cam Wake and Andre Branch assured of jobs and Chris McCain, Damontre Moore, Terrence Fede, CFL project Cleyon Laing and maybe Dion Jordan and others competing for roster spots. You would think Jordan would stick if he’s reinstated, but he has to prove himself.
“I keep looking at it and saying, man, ‘A good player is probably going to get cut somewhere,’" Gase said. "We have some good depth. I’m excited to see how this thing plays out. If we are healthy coming out of camp, that front is going to be tough.”

In 5 years Alexander will be the player everyone is saying wow how did we mess that up. I mean he could still go top 15 but I think he is one of the best in the draft.

I am sour on Alexander.

Apple is a fit, but I question why he has not run a 3 cone and his ball skills are questionable. He is not a finished product.

Hargreaves will be there at 13 IMO. He has physical limitations and does not have a ton of upside. That said, he will be a solid pro and will consistent each week.

Jackson is a fit, has the necessary ball skills and experience. I think he could be the first CB taken if you count Ramsey as a safety.

Xavien Howard is a good looking CB, but was feast or famine quite a bit.

I completely agreed with Gase, the DE spot is going to be very competitive. Everything being equal, Miami could have a very very scary front four.

I am no fan of that school in Columbus or the CB position but Apple seems ideal to be picked at 13

If you could guarantee me that Fuller was 100% and would be there at 42 hat is how I'd roll w/ Dodd or Lee in rd 1.

I like Apple, and think he would be a fantastic pick. Alexander I like slightly less, but would still be happy we addressed the CB position.

Let's see what would be the most Dolphins thing to do?

...we're drafting a defensive end. There it is. Prepare your buttholes. Tannenbaum is going in quick and deep.

Really want to see Fede step it up this year, he has made it this far from being the first drafted player from his college to staying on an nfl team for two years and now its time to be depended on in our rotation.

If Fuller is there at 42 then I would be ok with drafting a OL at 13, hes the last cb prospect to me that is day one day two acceptable.

I wonder why Hargreaves hasn't ran the 3 cone at the combine or his pro day either.

I like having the 1st rounder check all the boxes before running the card up. If I am not mistaken Dion Jordan never benched....came as damaged goods. I am not saying they are hurt in the CB's case, but I wonder as you said why aren't they showing what they got?

There will be plenty of opportunities for our FO to mess up that pick at 13. The most value at that spot will be on the dline imo but we really need a corner. Time will tell if we make the right choice
