3 completed passes would have changed the tone of this board....

So....you're a better coach because you accept failure and you don't make your QB compete for his job. It's time for THill to be called out. Enough with the coddling.

you didn't even read what he wrote did you?

Lozor's comments that RT needs to find his own confidence and upagrade his play as reported in the Herald today indicate to me he is taking a very critical look at RT.

I was actually glad that Tannehill threw the interception in the final seconds last week. We had no chance to win regardless, and with a cheap touchdown I knew there would be apologetic threads claiming we were just a couple of plays away. Then we get the thread anyway.

Tannehill led the league in dropped interceptions last year. Not my subjective view. Football Outsiders compiles that category. I posted the link. Adjustments should work both ways.

Through two games Tannehill's yards per attempt is awful. I wasn't going to mention it. Posters here have been very kind in not pointing it out. But this thread calls for it. Every team in the league has near misses and drops. I guess I've become numb to it while betting so many games. If it didn't happen it didn't happen. If I reacted to every drop or close call in every game I bet I'd never have a calm moment.

As far as Tannehill settling down, sure we can hope for that. Meanwhile, he's 26 years old. Brad Kaaya the true freshman quarterback of the Canes looked ridiculously nervous and tight in the opener at Louisville. His arm was much weaker than it appeared in scrimmages. Canes boards lit up. I was concerned but I emphasized that a young kid in a situation like that can be similar to a golfer who stands up to the ball with tension everywhere, and no chance to maximize distance. Kaaya has relaxed into the role and now his arm looks perfectly adequate for a college quarterback, although there's potential for nerves again at Nebraska on Saturday night.

I'm happier to adjust an 18/19 year old than 26.

Mike Wallace Keeps his feet in bounds against the Pats
Dion Sims catches the ball against the Pats
Hartline catches the ball this past Sunday in garbage time....

None of which were these RT's fault, and he would have 6 tds and one pick if everything stayed the same except for those 3 passes
Now there would still be talk of some of his inaccuracies for sure, but people would not be calling for his head.... As unhappy as I am overall, there is still the ability for him to be an above avg qb in this league. Sunday sucked, but we got a revamped line, New offensive scheme, and 14 more games... As much as people have a hate on for RT he can improve with some help. Philbin is right that it's not all on RTs shoulders..

As the late great Jim Mandich said, "shoulda coulda woulda" is losers' talk."

True vision is being able to see faults despite a win. 2-0 wouldn't have changed my view on Tannehill one bit. He's still the same inaccurate, holding on to the ball too long QB that he's been from day 1. That doesn't cut it.

..... OK but that wont exclude his piss poor play against Buffalo.

And this is why THill will never be good. Philbin is too soft on him. When you're the QB, it is on your shoulders.

While I agree with you a part of your statement.... lets have a thought experiment.

Tanny has a game and goes 3 - 27 passing.

The WR's magically combine for 20 drops... is that Tanny's fault??

You can lead a horse to water, comes to mind.

Wouldnt have changed a thing except his stats....which are for losers...Thill STILL is not proving he is a winner...is consistent...is a bonafide starting qb.....quit your paralysis by analysis..

Sure it would... guys on this board wouldn't be calling for his head.... 6 tds and 1 int in 2 games... how do you criticize that.... he would be right up there statistically with the upper echelon QBs If those 3 plays were made... non of which were RT's fault ....sure he missed on some throws, but he'd certainly be viewed a lot differently.... Dan Marino has great stats...is he a loser?? or would you be happy with a Trent Dilfer situation... hey I would if he brought us to the super bowl, but we all know that he wasn't the reason the ravens went to the bowl

To be honest stats are secondary for me when I am able to watch the game. Tannehill's stats in the second half of the Pats game were way worse than the first half. But he was a better QB. He managed the game better. He threw the ball away more often preventing idiotic passes or INTs and sacks. He managed the game much better which made the offense run more efficient.

Stats never tell the full story. They are a great comparison tool in general but that's about it.

I see some still want to adjust only in favor of Tannehill, when this is the same QB who last year had one of the highest dropped interception totals in the NFL:

These desperate, reaching, what if in an alternate reality threads are just inherently lame. Considering 2 of the TDs Tannehill does have were on spectacular catches by Wallace this is a silly game to play because it can just as easily swing the other way. Also for the record Wallace's out of bounds catch where he was supposed to drag his feet while at a full sprint was not a mistake by Wallace. It was an inaccurate throw.
