So after a 1st week in both College and the Pro's, 1 thing is clear as day.
Wannstedt has absolutely no clue how to run a football team. Check it:

Week 1, Wanny and his Pittsburg team, HEAVILY FAVORED over Charlie Weiss and hapless Notre Dame squad.=Wanny and the University Of Pittstburg LOSEa shocker to the underdogs (weiss beats wanny again)

Week2, This Saturday, Pittsburg, again the Favorite to win big over a little girl's school, OHIO and again loses a game which should have been won.
Pittsburg has got pretty much the same players as last year and left with a good recruiting class and Wanny's got them choked down. Pitt, a pass happy team against a team that is widely known to have a bad secondary an be SOFT against the pass still found a way to lose.
From the paper: "The biggest question mark has to be with head coach Dave Wannstedt's decision to not try for a touchdown at the end of regulation. Palko was in a bit of a rhythm and the offense was sharper than it was all game long, but with plenty of time to take a few shots at the end zone, Pitt settled for a game-tying field goal and overtime."

On the other hand, Charlie Weiss has stepped into Notre Dame and has completely turned that program around. In just 2 games, the Irish have waay over achieved what everyone thougt and has started out 2-0 and against teams they were supposed to lose to. Coaching and gameplanning and playing to your strengths is really how to win at football. Wanny just doesnt get it..Hellbent on running it even if they arent very good at it. Sound familiar?

Now, Saban has come in here and allowed Linehan to utilize the players we have on offense to the best of their ability. Whatever our strengths are, we are playing to. Everybody expected us to lose to Denver but surprise, surprise, what we can do without the noose around our necks.

Basically, I just wanted to point out (even though it's obvious) that Wannstedt NEVER HAD and still Does not have the slightest clue of how to run an offense..let alone a team. If anybody out there is still trying to defend Wanny or place the blame of this underachieving team these last 4 and a half years on something else besides Wanny, you are in Heavy Denial.

From the day I signed up here, I was against Wannstedt. I was sick when JJ brought him on board and even worse when Wanny took over. The guy is not a good coach at all. I don't even think he was that great of a defensive coach. Dallas had superstars and virtually every position. That probably had more to do with it than Wannstedt's "schemes."

"Pitt, the defending Big East champion, is 0-2 for the first time in 21 years. "
"I never would have expected this, especially considering what we did last year," defensive tackle Thomas Smith said. "You'd expect the momentum to carry over. But it's like coach says, it's a whole new thing. We can't live off what we did last year."
"After Notre Dame, we had a sick feeling in our stomach. We weren't going to let that happen again," linebacker Clint Session said. -IT DID! But it's not really their fault. It's Wanny's..He's got em choked.

Notre Dame is also ranked 10 in the polls.

Yea, but that's after this week. They werent' #10 when they played Pitt. Plus, Pitt won the Big East last year and they were ranked somewhere around #17 in the beginning of this year I think.

ND wasn't even ranked when they played Pitt.

Wanny's going for the trifecta: First Chicago, then us, and now Pitt!

All I can say about Wanny .. is Hell .. next Saturday is the first time I think I will be glad to see him on the sidelines coaching. Being from Omaha and all .. GO HUSKERS ! ! !

You know what's funny, I've heard analyst after analyst say that a good coach can mean a couple more wins or a couple more losses...IN COLLEGE!!! But then you look at the NFL and we just took that concept and whooped up on a superbowl champion coach, having been heavily unfavored in the game and took it to da house!! I feel bad that we passed our dillusions onto another team. Sorry Pitt. Don't feel bad, cause my Gators did the same thing. They cut out the tumor and handed it to Illinois. Go Phins!

I was navigating through a Broncos Message board when I seen this pic...
