The Dolphins are showing a lot of talent at WR and I think Darian Barnes and Fred Beasley are both worthy of a roster spot. I know it is a luxury to have 2 FBs or 6 WRs on the roster, but what about keeping 2 TEs instead of the usual 3? How dependent will this offense be on 2 TE sets? I look at the talent we have at the other positions and I do not see a clear 3rd TE on this current roster. Your thoughts?:dolphins:

with our depth at reciver, i think we may carry six WRs... and even then we are going to have to cut some good players

There are some decent Tight Ends as well. Saban has done a great job of creating depth and competition at practically every position. Still, I think you might be on to something. If we can keep a decent 3rd TE on the practice squad we might get by with only 2 on the active roster. Mularky does like to use some 2 TE formations. Perhaps Barnes could line up as a TE in some blocking situations.

I agree we're well stacked at WR, enough to hope they keep 6. Not sure if TE is where we should cut though, but keeping a thrird TE on PS might be a good solution.

This is great. This is the first time in a while that the coaches are going to have to make some difficult decisions on who to cut. The reason that is a good thing is it just means we will definitely have some great depth.

I personally think these 2 fBs will probably stay on the roster. However, I still think it will be 5 wrs, and 3 TEs. Just a gut feeling.

Put Toledo at TE in "elephant" packages. There's the beef.

we need seven recievers 1 fullback because sammy morris can play fullback and 2 tight ends chambers booker welker hagan cambell aromashoudo and vick at reciever itll work

Hadn't even thought of that. Why not, he is supposed to have great feet and athleticism.

I don't think Darian Barnes would clear the Waiver wire

I guess what I didn't mention is the thought that we might be able to sneak a 3rd TE through waivers but someone would pick Barnes up for sure. He is a stud blocker.

I keep hearing everywhere that Mularkey isn't a TE friendly OC. So maybe we could go with just the 2TEs. It also could have been a lack of takent at the TE position in Pitt. I don't recall them having any good TEs before drafting Miller

Wasn't W. Smith and Toledo tight ends the majority of their college careers?

I know Wade Smith was for sure he only played tackle his last year in college.

I'd rather not keep 2 fullbacks, remember Sammy Morris can play fullback also so I'd rather keep a more versatile player like a Vick, Campbell, or Welker over Barnes.

Exactly, hence my evil scheme. You could even line 'em up near the goalline like a power run then toss Joe a pass. Call it a "Holy Toledo" play. Are you paying attention, coach M?
