The Lions traded Stafford for Goff , 2 1st and a 3rd round.

Do you think Lions would be happy with Goff or trade up to get a QB?

Having that much money tied up in a 26 year old QB and then trying to draft another QB to replace makes no sense.
It does if you just did it for the picks, and intend to just eat the contract after a year.

I mean lets face it, Stafford is superior to Goff. If they just cut Stafford they get nothing in return. They can cut Goff, and they still have the picks.

Can’t believe the Lions got so much for him.. and idk, feels like a lateral move. Stafford to a team like the colts was much more logical imo

doubt the Lions will want to be moving up now but I’d take a future first lol

ya I don’t get it either.

I didn’t see a scenario where it was worth it to any team to give up even 1 first round pick.

This trade is mind boggling. Rams take the term all-in to another level.

Detroit can finally start from scratch. Really love this deal for the Lions.

SMH @ LAR.

I don't see it that way. They gave up way too much, but just compare the two players. Goff is not a good QB. He's average at best. Stafford has never had a great offensive coach, and has been a good QB in most years, and has the potential to be a top 5 QB with a good coach. I suspect Goff will be exposed without McVay to hold his hand.

I'm thinking the Dan Campbell Lions don't want anyone in the draft. They'll give Goff a whirl.

Remember, those 1st rounders are in 2022 and 2023, so they're not quite as valuable as 2021 picks, even though they could well be higher picks within the round.

I highly doubt Lions even wanted Goff back in the deal... I’m sure the Rams beefed up the picks in their package so Detroit would be willing to take back Goff’s horrible contract...

Detroit is officially in rebuild mode. They took on Goff because they know they won’t be spending money in free agency for another 2-3 years so why not absorb his contract and just beef up the picks in the Rams package.

The next two seasons, they’re gonna be way more focused on building their squad and player development than winning games.... Nobody is safe on the Lions and if they fall in love with anybody in the draft then they’ll do all they can to draft that person.

Goff being 26 and locked up to a big deal is so irrelevant to what they plan on doing in the future for QB. I’m sure he’ll still get an opportunity with them just because he’ll be there for a few seasons and they’re gonna suck anyway but that definitely doesn’t mean they won’t have interest in a QB.

Now I will say there is no pressure on the lions new management to find a QB right away since they’re entering a rebuild and have Goff to still fall back on for now but they’re still gonna be scouting all the QBs extremely hard.

If they end up falling in love with a QB this draft then they’ll draft him for sure. If they are a little iffy on any of the prospect QBs then they can just wait till 2022 or 2023. It’s really just gonna come down to which QB prospect will be the one to catch their eyes.

All that being said, let’s hope Detroit falls in love with Fields or Wilson because they will move up if they like one of them enough!

Just seen a cbs mock draft where we apparently give up 3 to Lions for their no 7, a second round pick and a 4th round next year? Am I being unreasonable when I say add one of your first rnd draft picks next year too and we’ll start from there?

This move hurt our chances for a trade back. Def didn't help.

Doubt Detroit gives up anything substantial in a trade up before seeing what they have in Goff. They aren't QB desperate like they could have been. One of the top 4 QB's will still be there at 7 if that's what they want. But a trade that left Detroit with no starting caliber QB would have been much more ideal for us.

Dunno bro, I think there are some options out there. You need a QB, we got the spot that guarantees you one of the three top QBs or Penei.
