3 ways for Fins to make playoffs (Cincy, Baltimore, NE) oops! 4 ways

1. Finish with a better record than Baltimore over the next 3 games.

2. Win out, and have NE lose out (@Miami, @Baltimore, Buffalo) Fins advance based on better Division record- 4-2 vs. 3-3

3. If Cincinnati loses EITHER of its next two games (@ Pitt, Minn), Dolphins control their own destiny. We go to playoffs even if Baltimore wins out, as long as we win out.

4. 8-8 tie with San Diego and Balt, with Balt losing its two AFC games.

[thanks, truedolfan57 for the 4th one!]

Don't get #3? So if Cincinnati loses 1 of their next 2 and we win out even if we are tied with Baltimore we are in?

actually, Miami can make the playoffs at 8-8, with Balt and SD at 8-8 as well.

Lets say the worst case scenario is Miami loses this week vs NE, Balt wins vs lions and SD loses to denver. Then next week, miami loses to Buffalo again, miami would need Balt to lose to NE and SD to win vs Oak. All very possible. Then week 17, miami needs to win vs jets, Balt lose @ cincy, and SD beat KC, who will probably be sitting players, since they have the 5th seed locked up. Miami will be in.

You must have meant "both" instead of "either" in number three.

although, if baltimore loses vs lions this week, and win vs cincy in week 17. baltimore will be in at 8-8.

57- you're right, that makes 4 ways, as long as the 2 Pitt losses are to the two AFC teams, so they end up 6-6 in Conf and we 7-5.

Finland- no, EITHER, not both. If Cincy loses to just one of those, and wins the other, that makes them 10-5 with Baltimore left to close the season. If they beat Balt, then Balt has at least 7 losses. If they lose to Balt, then they will have 6 losses and Dolphins own the tiebreaker against them. Under either scenario, the Dolphins would control their destiny by winning out.

I agree, win all 3 and let the cards just fall.

The Bengals last game is at home against the Ravens. But what you are saying is that the Dolphins win the wildcard tiebreaker against the Bengals.

If the Dolphins win out they will make the playoffs. Still an outside chance at the Division, New England will be playing Buffalo to keep their hold of it.

I think we'll win v. Buffalo and the Jests. Soooooo ... it really boils down to this week's game doesn't it?
