3000 tickets unsold for MNF opener

We have had one winning season in the last five years, and no playoff wins. Why should people go to the game?

I'm guessing this is equal parts the impact of the economy AND discontent with the Dolphins. I'm debating whether or not to go to the 'Phins/Browns game in Sept. Despite the fact I live only 40 min. from Browns Stadium and have the money to go, I just don't know if I WANT to spend the money...that and I don't think I want to deal with all of the a-hole Browns fans.

You act like 3000 is a lot, especially with 11 days to go. The game is on ESPN anyway. According to this board though we usually have 20-25 empty seats...

Dude, there are ALWAYS empty seats when we are sold out.. Always.

Hopefully a solid win will help the ticket sales for the Texans game. I'm pretty surprised the streak has lasted this long, there hasn't been a whole lot to be excited about. I'd go, but, well, I'm broke

Come on guys, this game needs to be sold out, and I am not talking by Patriots fans. We need that game full and full of Dolphins fans. Embarrassing that the fan base can not sell out a prime time game on opening weekend.
but their are better things to do in miami as opposed to other cities:lol::lol::lol:

i agree, it is really embarrassing how we cant even sell out the home opener yet. i mean, i understand like in week 13 we are 6 games under 500 and fans are fed up and dont want to pay to see the team in person. thats understandable.

but week 1, thats the week in which every team in the league has hopes. its a clean slate. the dolphins are going to be pretty solid, we are not like a dreadful team that has zero hope.

i know i will be their week 1 in the stands from new york.

Yep, Cause the owner or the local CBS station buys them up for the game to be aired. If its like 500 or 1,000 tix. But with the first game NATIONAL, no station will buy up seats. Ross doesn't want to buy up 3,000 seats himself. That's financially a losing thing to do.

And for 15,000 week 2.....FORGET ABOUT IT!! Ross and the Station will buy some tix, but not anywhere near 15,000. Because business wise it makes zero sense!!

I think the Pats game will sell out. But I don't see the Houston game coming close to selling out.

Honestly I do not think there is any chance that the game will not be sold out. If anything ESPN will buy up the remaining tickets. And once again we will be declared a sell out and you'll see hundreds of empty seats in the stadium.

I dont follow.

How exactly does Ross buy seats for himself? Does he write himself a check?

Not being a smartass, I just dont see that premise.

3,000 seats is not alot and they should easily sell out this one.

After that it's up to the team.

Just win baby.

Sure.. He can buy them and give them to family or do whatever he wants. And its not like he is writing a check from Steven Ross to Steven Ross. He is writing a check from Steven Ross to The Miami Dolphins LLC or whatever the dolphins corporation name is. It goes in the books as ticket revenues. Steven Ross's personal books (where the check is being written) are separate from The Miami Dolphins books (where the check is being received).

If I lived in Miami I would definitely have season tickets.

Making a trip to San Diego to see them this year.

Maybe some day I would have the opportunity to travel to every Phins game after I make my first million!

But for now I am still a broke college kid so that pipe dream will have to wait.

If I lived in Flagstaff.... I would never ever leave

Hope the Lumberjacks lay the wood to the Mildcats this weekend brother!!!
