They could try lowering prices some more for those upper seats for the non-divisional games. [Though not sure how much more, Dolphins average already below the league average]. 15,000 tickets remain for the Texans game, with 2 weeks to sell them. They probably need to sell about 10,000-13,000 of them, the rest can be bought up by whoever buys them up. TV, Radio, Corporations, Ross. Not sure if they can do it. Will have to find a Texans stream.
The Jaguars didn't have any blackout last year. I know they have like 10,000 less seats, but whatever they did works. Dolphins should do it and drop prices.
It's not just one problem, there are a bunch of contributing factors that lead to so many tickets being available. The out of town fans that tell the local fans to be more supportive of the team need to stop. First, the tickets are ridiculously high priced for such a mediocre product on the field. Secondly, going to the games isn't a show up at one and leave at four kind of a deal. It's an all day thing that takes up your whole day. And last but not least, this team went 1-7 at home last year. I'm a fan no matter how bad the team is but its really difficult to get psyched about a team that was so inept at home last year. Fans will go to the games when they start winning on a regular basis at home.
I've probably bought more tickets to see the Lions up here than you have for your local team.
There is the problem right there. Taking up your whole day on a Sunday? Oh heaven forbid. And only go when the team is built for the playoffs/super bowl? Come on.
Fin fans kill me.
The Jets and Giants charge ridiculous prices for PSLs and you can never even get single game tickets. The prices are higher thsn miami and most people have to drive to another state to go to the game.
If the fins can't sell out an opening week Monday night game against the best team in our division then the team should move somewhere else. I know alot of the locals are great fans but there just aren't enough of them.
...so the solution is for people who live in other states to bail out the locals? My point was that I buy tickets to NFL games of teams I don't even root for. And I have a ****ty job in an economy considerably worse than that in South Florida. It's always fun when out of town fans call out the local fans. Here's an idea, it was mentioned earlier that FH has 65,000 members. How about every member pays $5/home game. At an average of $70 per ticket, FH can scoop up more than 4600 tickets per game and raffle them off to members? If everybody is so concerned about blackouts this could be a solution
Try sitting in the stadium for a 1-7 home team,
Amazing global recession, U.S. Dollar value is falling, stock market is a volatile mess, unemployment just soared again, banks have slashed interest to generate income(1.5% in a flipping used car loan), housing market still on the decline, home values in a free fall, a unstable job market effecting the South Florida economy leaving tens of thousands of workers in stress wondering how long they have a job. But hey 3000 tickets left what a terrible fan base!
I've had season tickets for 15 years bud so don't squawk at me. It's easy when football only takes up 3 hours of your day at no cost. Try sitting in the stadium for a 1-7 home team, paying several thousand dollars in season tickets/parking per season and taking up 10+ hours of your day and then maybe we can talk. Until then you can keep talking about how you're a better fan because you watch from New Jersey
And when did I say anything about playoff/superbowl team?? They have been bad and boring, theres a difference...but I still go
It costs me plenty to fly down four times a season to go to the games man. Plus the jets game in nj every year.
Im glad you support the team and go to games. I just hate to hear fin fans in miami coming up with excuses to not go. Nothing is as disheartening as hearing chants for the defense when the fins offense is on the field against a quality oponent at home.
I'm guessing this is equal parts the impact of the economy AND discontent with the Dolphins. I'm debating whether or not to go to the 'Phins/Browns game in Sept. Despite the fact I live only 40 min. from Browns Stadium and have the money to go, I just don't know if I WANT to spend the money...that and I don't think I want to deal with all of the a-hole Browns fans.
