3000 tickets unsold for MNF opener

LoL at all you ppl saying "u out of town fans need to stop"

you need to "STOP" with the excuses and feeling sorry for yourselves. this is the number 1 reason i couldnt stand the heat this year.

i was at the carolina preseason game this preseason, i've been to several other home games down there including the one against the pats. i have been at almost every single giants/fins game and jets/fins game up here in NJ for the past 10 years - regardless of the teams record etc. For a Week 1 showdown against the Pats on MNF that game needs to be SOLD OUT an it needs to be AT LEAST 80 % dolphins fans - not that watered down crap with tons of empty seats and visible congregations of pats fans by games end. (we actually have tons of dolphin fan congregations at games here in jersey and we even have a dolphins bar here that is always filled every sunday)

south florida ppl will show up in mass to hyped arrogant crap like the heat (while also bashing rex ryan and the jets for the same atitude) - but whine and cry about "product on the field" about the dolphins. you cry about "hype and gimmicks" yet a team that proclaimed 6 championships and had a dumb rock-concert style rally and came up empty was always filled up.

my lifelong Giants fan friend attended the carolina PRESEASON game with me and said it was the best in person game experience hes ever had in his life b/c the atmosphere at phins games is awesome! and i agree! not to mention the PRICE is CHEAPER than it is up HERE!

get to the games or the phins will be embarassed on TV with no fans and wille ventually be moved. ppl cry about "northeast bias" then play right into it.

No but, I bet you are since your reading comprehension is clearly comprimised right now. I stated that the contrast would be greater if I drank beer. A glass of soda cost me around 25 cents. When Im drinking water, its even cheaper. I was speculating the soda at the game to be $8.

meh. reading comprehension is for suckers.

sober is for the birds.

Dwyane Wade is better than the entire Dolphins squad lol, what you expect. They were selling out before the "super friends" got together. Why? Because the Heat have a GM (Pat Riley) who knows what the **** he's doing.

it also boils down to a changing society. ppl like sitting on their couches watching games just like they like talking over the internet and texting better than in person conversation. I personally LOVE getting out to a real football game or any sporting event. but everything about human interaction is dying.

You guys do need to stop, everything is always easier on the outside looking in. Going to one game a year is a much different story than committing thousands of dollars a year. I still go but if you're trying to get into a pissing contest over who the bigger fan is...the numbers don't lie.

BTW whats up with the Heat obsession? Nets basketball isn't cutting it? Stop worrying about the "rock concert". It was meant for the fans, not a national audience.

Honestly, when you take into consideration the side show circus that Ross likes to fling out there, watching from your own coach is probably better. During halftime or commercials I can take a piss and not miss a single play. I can get beverage from my fridge that cost me about 25 cents a glass as opposed to $8. If I drank beer, this contrast would be even greater. I can prepare or order any food I would like at a much cheaper rate as well. My home is at a very comfortable temperature at all times. I can wear sweats, shorts, t-shirt, sweatshirt, socks, no socks, etc etc.... any combination really and be totally comfortable. I can go to FH at the half and bash Chad Henne or Tony Sparano. With my NFL Sunday Ticket, during commercials and half I can switch to watch action from any game I choose. After the game is over, I can watch another set of games instead of driving and or flying home.

All of these are advantages to watching the game on TV. There are many more I didnt list.

Having said that, there are certain aspects of being at the game that just cant be matched by watching at home. There are pros and cons to each.

But, the bottom line, comes back to the bottom line. Dollars that is. I gotta admit, If I lived in S. Florida right now making similar excess money(not used for essential bills: phone, electric, gas for the car, home, food, etc etc) to what I currently make now, I would certainly buy a ticket for the Patriots game and go. But, thats me. If someone in a similar financial situation told me they didnt want to spend that kind of money to go to the game and instead catch it on TV, I could understand that. I dont think that makes them a bad fan.

Flynryan nailed it in this thread. Some people just dont seem to get that.

It is $10 a beer!

Exactly. Rofl @ that guy trying to compare the Dolphins with the Heat. The Heat have been relevant the past decade, the Dolphins haven't been relevant in two decades. Heck, the Marlins have been more relevant than the Dolphins. Just look at the TV ratings the Marlins get, they are as high as any team in their league, but the fans don't go to the games. Miami fans stay home until they see something worth going to. I sure as heck didn't see the Dolphins give refunds to everyone in our 1-15 season, which they deserve. And last year going 1-7 at home? Pretty sure that fact stayed on the mind of most Dolphins fans.

1-7 at home is pathetic. I got family that didn't buy season tickets this year because of that 1-7 record.

loll who wants to watch Henne in action against an explosive offense knowing we will most likely lose 10 to 41 or something.

Plus, you give us a winning percentage of waht? 10% the last 2 years at home and you are surprised? lmao

I did. It was sad. They did sell well last year though. Only 2 thousand tickets available overall last year. This year there is 15k available for the Houston game and 18k available for the Denver game. The fans have spoken, they want Sparano, Ireland and Henne gone.

Thats not the only reason people dont attend games, to send a "message" to Ross that they want these guys gone. Its simple and we all know it, the fans want a winning team.

That being said, if this team wins, say, 10 games this year and henne plays great under a new, exciting offense, that should help fill the seats in 2011, if not, than in 2012

It is embarrassing. What do you people do down there? Here in Boston, a non-sold out Pats game is like the Lochness Monster. Same w/NY.

Geee, I wonder why games up there don't get blacked out... no s**t.:rolleyes2:

It costs me plenty to fly down four times a season to go to the games man. Plus the jets game in nj every year.

Im glad you support the team and go to games. I just hate to hear fin fans in miami coming up with excuses to not go. Nothing is as disheartening as hearing chants for the defense when the fins offense is on the field against a quality oponent at home.

One trip from NJ to florida with car rental, hotel, tickets, food, and all that and we've already spent more than what it would cost to live in FL and buy season tickets

Why the (bleep) would ESPN buy the tickets? The game is on in 99.9% of the country. They don't care if its on in Miami or not. It's not their problem if a few thousand people who DIDN'T go to the game can't see it

Sorry I bleepin meant the bleepin local media.. bleep!

I have tickets to the Jets - Fins on MNF up here in the New Meadowlands on Oct 17. I'm seriously on the fence about buying tickets for the Houston game on 9/18, I priced airfare and everything. But to be completely honest, I'm a little nervous about commiting that much time and money for another game until I see what they're made of in week 1. If I still lived in Miami, I would be at both for sure, but...

Thats why we aren't going down for the first time in 3 years

A little, yeah. It's disappointing. What gets me worked up are the excuses. It's not a new phenomenon and it has nothing to do with the economy.

You really must be a moonman if you think it has nothin to do with the economy

The technology in recent days has changed things for sure. Back in the "good old days" I would have rather gone to a game live, but nowadays I'm not so sure. For one the cost of going to game has gone up significantly. For the price of going to 8 live games you can build yourself a state-of-the-art mancave with a slick HD TV, a nice leather couch, BBQ outside, have all your friends over with the best seat in the house(no unobstructed views), and no sitting around in traffic. You get all the channels conveniently lined up from 704-715 and they even throw in a red zone channel and a fantasy player tracker. What's more, is that this investment doesn't depreciate to absolutely nothing after the season is over.

There are some sports that are still better live, but I find it harder and harder to make that case for football anymore.
