Now, if you can't afford to go - stop reading here, I'm not talking to you.






However, if that is not the problem, and you choose to stay away because (as I actually read here in this thread by several people ) of 1-7 last year at home/we've sucked lately/coach sucks/GM sucks/didn't bring in QB competition/NE is gonna kill us/I'd rather go to the beach/it's just as good if not better on TV ... or whatever other bull**** you've concocted. I hope you're proud of the fair-weather fan status that you've just bestowed upon yourself. I am disappointed in you, and you should be ashamed of yourself.


I'll be driving 3+ hours each way to Cleveland for our game September 25th.
I'll be flying in for the Broncos game October 23rd.


I'm absolutely ****ing stoked that I'm gonna get to see our Dolphins twice this season!


... and, this is coming from the guy that bitched and moaned about our team all offseason long.


If we suck, I'll be pissed. If we win, I may set a couch on fire.


But, for those who have the opinion that "they'll go when we start winning again" ... GFY. I have no tolerance for supposed "fans" that have a laundry list full of excuses as to why they would rather be doing something else than going to the game.




For the love of Shula, I thought that we were the hard-core portion of the fan base. How this could somehow be justified on FinHeaven, boggles my mind.

Nobody wants to pay for ****, period. I spent too much money on this team to watch crap in the past years when I had season tickets. If you don't mind paying for my to go I will go, but don't go around calling people fairweather fans when most (myself) have probably spent more to watch this crap team the past decade than yourself and choose just not to do it anymore. I'd rather go somewhere for the weekend, spend some money on my girl so she'll blow me, something other than seating in 105 degree weather and watching my team just fail misereably. Move down to Florida if you're so hardcore, but good luck finding a job so you can support your team. Easy to make assumptions all the way in WV.

I live in Orlando and go to a game once a year. I think it has a lot more to do with a combination of factors than just how good the team is or is constructed. Here my my opinion.

1. I absolutely agree, the team has been mediocre for awhile and most would predict the same this year.

2. The tickets are expensive. Every game I have gone to the last 3 years, I bought off Stubhub or Ebay because an individual ticket from Ticketmaster cost way too much money. The only tickets that are really even available for this game are suite level for over 200 dollars. Even an upper sideline ticket normally costs almost $100 a piece.

3. So many people that live in south florida, and even grew up in south florida, cheer for another team. They could have lived in New York for one year, and Miami for 25, and they will still boo the Phins/Heat and cheer the Jets/Knicks. Some have not even lived there and they still choose to cheer against their hometeam. I went to the Patriots game last year, and it was full of Pats fans and you will always even see a few Jets jerseys during this game. There's just way too many interests and people from up north to build a really strong, large, and passionate fanbase.

4. The atmosphere. It's just crazy. Like I was saying, you have all thse other fans from other teams in your own stadium, and you end up watching people in the stands fight more often than you do the actual game. You have fans throwing beers at each other, security asking everyone questions to see "who started it", and everybody arguing. I don't see why anyone would want to go to a game like that, I know I don't want to unless I pay the extra money for a better seat.

The only cure to ticket sales in south florida unfortunately is winning. More wins = the bandwagon fans with money show their faces

I saw highlights of the Phillies at the Marlin's tonight and the place was empty...you have to wonder if the Marlin's new stadium will make any difference as far as fans supporting their local teams. I think the bottom line is if team's win the fans will show up, but with the economy the way it is, many people would rather just watch sports at home....if there is a blackout for the Phins locally that's life.

It might be like how the Nationals new stadium was when it was first opened. Attendance was booming the first year but then dwindled as the years went on. If the Marlins can field a team that competes, it'd be a different story. The Nationals are on their way to a better team and with that comes the crowd.

The same applies to the Marlins and every other team out there.

Bumpus lives in WEST VIRGINIA that is the point you missed. I don't care how close or far you live, some people don't have the means to go, or prefer watching the game at home or at a sports bar. You go be a fan your way let everyone else be one their way fair enough?

It's either F the Dolphins, they aren't competitive so why bother, or my job doesn't pay enough and I don't have enough money to go, or screw Stephen Ross, let's dick him over by not showing up which puts money in his pocket, etc.

If I lived three hours away I'd go to at least the first half of the games. If the team was 2-10 and had one home game left, would I go? At that point it would depend on how close I was to the stadium. If I was still 3 hours away, I wouldn't go (bad record, no real point). It's only then would I support people not going.

$53 for tickets in the upper level right now on Stubhub. If you or anyone wanted to get club suite tickets, I don't know why you or they would expect those to be cheap. Those tickets are for the common fan.

upper level isnt bad at all ether. i would drop $53 in a heart beat

Clubseat season tickets are a pretty significant investment, well not really a investment because there is no return. I live 3 hours away and it gets tiresome, either driving down night before or at the butt crack of dawn gameday, not to mention driving home after sitting in the Florida sun 4hrs. Hell I fly free on any airline and it is still a lot of work getting there! Add hotels, gas, parking, food and drink my pair run well over 10k a year. Easy to judge when you aren't shelling that out.

If you all can manage to bring 50-100 FH members to a game and take over a section/be the loudest part of the Stadium, you would be doing something. Would require work though.

Wow it is much cheaper. $53 isn't that bad, just checked Ticketmaster for the Texans game and there are a bunch of $53 seats. If I lived in Miami I'd go. If I wanted to go to Dolphins/Giants here those same seats at the Meadowlands are $100+.

Anyway, I don't think it has as much to do with the economy as it does Winning (08, 09, 10 had a poor economy and fans showed up). The casual fan is just not going to take the time to travel to that stadium and pay to park if the team only won 1 game at home, and looked boring in their losses as well. One stretch of games last season they scored 0 points, 10 points and 14 points. Two against last place teams.

If they generate excitement, people will buy tickets. If we see the Dolphins go 1-1 or 2-0 in two very exciting games, I think it could spur sales. (Though, it would probably take more than 2 games. If they go 2-0 and lose to the Browns after that it would be Same Old $hit to many people)

Not only have a couple hundred premium seat holders stiffed the Dolphins on 2011 payments, but season ticket sales are in the low 40,000s, the worst in 28 years. The team hopes to end up around 45,000, way down from 61,000 in 2006 and 51,000 last year.
