It's not that hard to figure out. When we run, when we have some balance, the offense stands a chance. Gore and Drake averaged 6.7 YPC and 4.4 YPC respectively.

Offensive Line did way better than I expected, and you've got to give Brock Osweiller credit, I didn't think he had this type of game in him.

But the key on offense in my opinion was the OL run blocking and pass protecting and Gase sticking to the run, although I blew a gasket when inexplicably he didn't try a single run last drive before overtime, but all's well that ends well.

An impressive win, hopefully GAse will learn from this and run the ball more in the future...

I will say this a thousand times and it falls on deaf ears

cause and effect! we don't choose to not run, we don't choose to lose

if every team could run the ball effectively they would choose to

sometimes your team gets 1.something YPC and you get behind then running is not an option

we didn't run the last drive in OT because time was running down(and Gase STILL almost blew that!!!!)

Based on preseason comments from the coaches, I think they're managing Gore's carries (since he's a 35 yr old running back).

Seemed Brock audibled to quite a few running plays that were successful. Gore ran like the beast he is and always has been. Gase calling a run out of the shotgun from 1 foot out was, well, plain insane. Perfect situation to call for a QB sneak.

kyndig and others, PLEASE read lbmclean’s post above.

Do you REALLY think there are games we just forget to run, or choose not to run, or dont care if we run or not?

REALLY???????!

For all the talk about Tannehill being handcuffed when he's not allowed to audible he doesn't do it very often. Brock probably called more today than Tannehill called all season.

I love Frank Gore. Totally changes the identity of our team. It feels like two years ago when we were pulling out all the tight games thanks to reliance on Ayaji, plus some timely big passing plays.

Now when we get the ball on a key late possession I am very confident we can gash the opponent on the ground for 6-10 yards immediately, setting the tempo for the series and forcing the defense to respect everything.

Kenyan Drake may be a 5 course meal but some of those courses make you want to throw up. We would not be pulling out these close games at home if we were relying on swing passes instead of brute straight ahead runs from a back with remarkable instincts on those inside runs.

I still can't believe that thread from a few days ago with multiple posters projecting Frank Gore to retire after this season. Not minus an injury.

Actually, yes I do. Seems to me Gase’s first instinct is a short passing game that is often unbalanced. I have been watching football for 44 years and it is clear when a team is committed to establishing the run and a balanced offense and clear when it is not.

That’s an interesting point if true...

I hope he comes back w us for another year if he can still play like this. I suggested he might retire based upon pure speculation given his age / the pounding one takes playing that position for so long. We’re in uncharted territory a bit here so I don’t know. That said, I agree that he gives us a more physical presence since we traded Ajayi.

Thank you! It kills me when people whine after a loss about not running the ball, but in those games our OL is getting bullied and rb's are constantly getting hit in the backfield for no gain.

Remember Tannehill couldn't audible under Lazor and Philbin. Coincidence?

You'd think this would be obvious by now.......

When it happens with a backup QB in the game, the pitchfork crowd claims that Tannehill can't do that. When it happens with Tannehill in the game, the same crowd claims that Tannehill should get no credit because the running game carried him.......

I’m sure there are “some” out there but most everyone I see isn’t crowning Brock any sort of notch above Tanne for one game.

He played well, about to his ceiling I’d say. Tannehill could’ve had the same kind of performance, he has, several times.

Just happy to see a win as everyone should be here.

We had good push up front and our tempo + game flow was on point. Well done, and Tunsil is a stud.
