I still remember this game like it was yesterday. I was 16 years old and in 10th grade. Wow time flies. This is why they are the New England Cheatriots. Time for some paybacks this Sunday.

Today in 1982: Work release parolee Mark Henderson clears space on snow-frozen turf that enables the Patriots to kick a late Field Goal. New England beats Miami 3-0.

They cheated for sure, but when you got a giant donut up on the scoreboard with seconds left in the 4th quarter, you kinda deserve to lose.

One of those games I would like to block from my memory. What a frustrating game even though it didn't have any effect our season. Two weeks before this game , I went to the old sombrero in Tampa to watch the dolphins lose 23-17. :( It turned out to be a pretty successful strike shortened season. We claimed our fourth AFC title with a shutout over the jets. Unfortunately john riggins shoved a dagger in our hearts in the super bowl.

it was made up for you w/ the tarp incident in Miami in the AFC Championship Game.

Did the tarp change the conditions of the playing field for only one team? Or did it change the conditions for both? What you call an incident is really just home field advantage and really no different than allowing the grass on a baseball field to be higher or lower depending on how fast you want to ball to move on the ground on any given day. The snowplow changed the conditions for only one team.

both teams played on the same surface but it was shenanigans to leave the field unprotected. W/ that being said you earned the right to host the game and took advantage. The better team won that day.

The Dolphins beat the Jets 3 times that year. Tarp or not, the Jets would have lost. Besides, the field was the same for both sides.

Maybe, maybe not. we'll never know but Miami earned it, what was a bigger issue was the fumble we recovered that they gave back to you which you then scored your only offensive pts on that drive.

remember this game like it was yesterday... since I live in the Boston area nobody ever lets me forget it... by the way sweet HD TV

How do you like the Massachusetts' judicial system calling Pouncey up the week we play the Pats? You might say happen-stance, but I say trying to gain an advantage. JMHO.

I find that incredibly hard to believe.

Some people get treated differently in Massachusetts. Senator Ted Kennedy allowed a young lady to drown in his car, after veering his car off a bridge on a small island called Chappaquiddick, back in the late 1960's. Nothing ever happened to Kennedy, and he didn't serve any jail time, and I think he only got charged with "leaving the scene." It probably cost him a shot of becoming President, but this guy should have been jailed for vehicular manslaughter. He was likely very drunk when he did this.

I remember this one too...not televised in my area so all I knew was the score. At the end of whatever game was being televised they cut over to the clown cleaning off the spot and Shula going ares__t ballistic. This to me was just the start of the Patsies cheating era, and Belicheat just jumped onto the cheating Patriot bandwagon later. Much of my sheer hatred of the Patriots came from this game. I still cannot believe that score was upheld by the NFL, but I guess they didn't really know what to do.

Really? I guess Miami got special Rain/Mud shoes and drip-dry uniform to help them against your team. Face it, the only advantage Miami had on your teams was homefield, and that Miami earned by beating your team twice before that year. Miami was the better team, which they proved again and again and again that year.
