4:15 PM kickoffs are no more, see you at 4:25 PM

all it will mean is extra commercial time, games soon will be spilling over into the 4:25 area on average. The NFL never does anything in the best interest of the fans, it's always about the best interest in getting the most amount of money from the fans and I understand that but it's an insult to pretend like they are doing this for the fans.

the nfl is not alone in that...by any means...doesn't matter to me...that's what i got a dvr for...to buzz through all the garbage...

The fact that this is listed as "breaking news" on NFL.com just shows how uneventful this time of the year is.

Well the NFL doesnt actually generate any revenue from extra commercial time. The networks do. The deal was worked out the year before the lockout, so extending the game times now wouldnt produce any new commercial revenue now. Some of the new rules have extended the boradcast time of games, such as reviewing every scoring play, and the NFL has now compensated. It has nothing to do with more commercials and there are no conspiracys to ruin the NFL ok?

Awesome.. Now Sunday Night Football can start even later. Perhaps 9:15..

With that, it is in the best interests of the networks to convince the NFL to tack on another 10 minutes so they can generate more ad revenue - and then give the NFL their cut for moving the time up.. This perspective is realistic.

so more ad time wouldn't make the packages they sell to the networks more valuable thus putting more $$ in the pockets of the league?

No, because the networks dont have to disclose to the NFL how much they sell advertising blocks for. Its a stipulated sum contract, not a royalties contract.

It's still going to lead to more money for the league, I can't help you if are naive enought o believe they are doing this so fans won't mis the ends of certain games.

the league can do whatever they want...the nfl has such a loyal and strong fan base that we may not like it but we'll be sitting right there glued to the tube no matter what they decide...and they know it...the leagues a cash cow

Absolutely, I understand from their point of view but it's an insult for this to be portrayed as something that was being done for the fans.

If you dont think the NFL has any real interest in keeping the fans happy by showing an entire game, then you are the one who is naive buddy. The NFL has done a pretty good job of protecting the integrity of their product, and I know how badly you want to turn this into a conspiracy theory, but its just not.

So you are telling me that you dont appreciate being able to see a game in its entirety? This move doesnt help you see your team at all?

I get to see every moment of every Jet game regardless so it doesn't affect me that way.

It's not a conspiracy, it's a fact. Moving games to Thursdays, no late season sat afternoon games, prime time playoff games, later reg season starts. It's about ad revenue not about what the fans want.

fans want primetime games...playoffs or others...it gets them out of having to do stuff with their wifs...yeah i know i left out the e but that's what i call mine...the wif

primetime is also about the largest audience...how could you not want primetime games

The NFL doesnt disctate what games are shown, the networks do. Just as the NFL doesnt dictate when a game gets switched, the network does.. With that it was in the NFL's best interest to move the kickoff time up - in addition to my earlier post.
