i think the move to 4-3 of late is a significant sign of miami going all out on the LB core this year. we idndt get LaVar so i excpect a briggs/june/thomas signing and 1 to possibly 2 Drafties.

We do use the 4-3 more this year because we don't have to blitz to make pressure which helps out the secondary. Against the Jags we gave Garrard multiple looks and used the 3-4 a little more to try to confuse him. We don't really have the personel to run it right now so it's probably in our favor to run the 4-3 a little more. I do think this year that Saban will adress the defensive line and the linebacking core.

agreed. last year he did the Secondary so to say and the...well yea thats it i guess. so i say D line this year and Lb core will be taken care of and teh O line. prob tahts it with maybe 1 more DB.

If Saban learned anything from this past off season he's going to get at least two quality linemen(one through FA and one through the draft somewhere). IMO he should keep the right side as is with Carey and Shelton and bring in some people to fill the void at LT and LG.

Hadnot is doing a pretty good job but he's not a crazy center or anything that just flat out whoops the guy in front of him like a Lecharles Bently or Kevin Mawae.

The Pats have been running 4-3 more lately as well. But I think we'll still sport a hybrid of both 3-4 and 4-3, it just depends on the players we have.

our Dline is to good and has to much depth that goes to waste in a 3-4 defence not to mention that we only have 2 real good starting linebackers in zach and channing. spragan is nothing special and the taylor experiment at linebacker in the 3-4 was a failure so there was no point in really using a mostly 3-4 system when it just doesnt suite our team/players.

jT and 3-4 a failure? he is 2nd on teh team in pass defence and has 2 INTs and 1 came off a DE sliding to LB spot ala Porter vs miami week 1. or at least i think thats how that int vs the bears was. but he has great coverage skills so dono how it is a failure.

Miami really isnt using a 4-3 more than last year, and I dont understand why Belichick thinks so.

Last year Miami lined up mostly in a 4-3 over or under shifted defense, same as this year. It's basically a 3-4 with one of the linebackers(Jason Taylor) in the same positioning in a 3-point stance. You've still got a 2 LB-type players on the line of scrimmage, two backed off over the Guards, a NT, etc.

This really isnt going to be any sort of change, and they will still be looking for typical 3-4 players.

The only true change I see on the D is an upgrade in the LB core ... signing 1 of the top 3 in FA ... other than that ... we can do with what we have ... I just wish Pope was a little bigger -- he'd likely be another Derrick Brooks type player ...

we used alot of 4-3 due to the simple fact that Saban doesnt have the right people at the LB spot. Once saban drafts more LB's (size wise) the fins will probably be a 3-4 base that goes into a 4-3 to confuse alot of teams. We need more bigger LB's. I love Zach but hes not the prototype for a hybrid D.
