4 contracts in-1 out

Let's just say that the F.O. sat down with the 4 suposed no.#1 picks that are being banted around and their Agents (of course). Each was offered a starting salary contract with all the clauses in place, etc, etc, etc. Whom do you feel would be most receptive (along with agent-family and advisors) to get a contract done for the 1st round, #1 pick that should be fair and honest with all parties (considering the XxXxXxXx Agent) To be fair with the team and have a good chance to prove that HE was worth the #1 pick.

My pick would be wieghted greatly towards C. Long....not because of his attitude, pride or agent......BUT because of His Father ...Howie...a H.O.F.'er
that understands the importance of signed-sealed and delivered. Of what it means to be there for the training, the exceriese the game book the chemistry with your position and your team mates..To Be in SHAPE...mentally as well as physically......all that starts from day one. jmho PS I know I used the words FAIR and HONEST in the Question....you guys know what I mean, when it comes to agents, teams, owners, family and oneself.caulksmen

Yea, also since Chris is "Howie's son" Im sure money has never been a huge issue, but the agents will try and do their best to screw us believe that!

I think it's a double-edge sword. If we do that, then it becomes obvious who we are going to zero in on and probably eliminate any hopes of trading down (not that the chance is real great now). So then do you go after 2-3 guys and try to work out a "tentative" contract if drafted by us before the draft, like they've done in years past? The problem is the agents. In recent years, the trend has been for the #1 pick to wait for as long as possible so they can get the big contracts based upon $$ other draft picks get. It all but eliminates this as an option any more because agents/players are worried about leaving potential money on the table by signing early with a team. Personally they should have a rookie cap and length of contract in place in the NFL, so that the lower teams that draft early are not penalized by having to sign huge contract to a single player and then try and get other quality players with less cap room because of that player.

I think Chris Long would be the easiest to sign among the potential number one overall picks. The dude grew up with money, he was set for life with or without the NFL.
