I have been a Finfan since 1970. Every year it seems that which ever team is looking dominant in the AFC East, still has a dog fight with the bottom feeders in the division. New England and Miami, in the eyes of the pundits and talking hairdos, are head and shoulders above the Bills and Jets. I happen to agree. My question is, "Do you feel that translates into four in the Win column for the Dolphins this year (sweep them both, Jets and Bills)? If you believe that, it shouldn't be too much of a reach to believe our division record will be 5-1 given a split with the Patsies. Am I optimistic? I realize it is a long season and anything can happen in the NFL. Just wondering what your thoughts might be. :dolphins:

Sweep the Jets. Split with the pats and bills

division games are always tough. i think 5 and 1 would be a feat. the bills and jets may lose to everyone else, but they will play us tough.

Both the Jets and Bills are dangerous teams. The Jets almost always play us very tough. This year I think the Jets will be the worst team in the AFC East, since their running game will be by committee and the passing game lacks bonafide threats.
The Bills, if you remember, were the trendy playoff pick at the beginning of last year because they had finished strong the season before. Although they had a horrible season, I think they are a very dangerous team. I still think Losman, McGahee and Lee Evans have enough talent that, whenever they click, will create problems for us. If they do, I could see the Bills going 8-8 and pulling many upsets along the way.

I could see us taking both from NY, and splitting the rest = 4-2.

The really bad teams are in the NFC, not the AFC. San Francisco, New Orleans and Detroit spring to mind.

I wouldn't put any number of wins from our division in to the win column, except for 3. And that's not even counting sweeping anyone. 3 wins out of 6 games should be expected. 4 isn't unreasonable, but to say we sweep bioth the Jets and Bills is a tough pill to swallow, because if they win at all during the year, they would easily prefer it be over the dolphins. If we won 5 division games, we would easily win the division I think. With 6 division wins, I think, pretty much guarantees a bye in my opinion(if we go 6 for 6 in our division we should be able to go 6 for 10 out of it).

I can't remember a preseason where BOTH the jets and the Bills look like total crap.

That said, I don't see us sweeping them both. The AFC East teams always play each other tough.

We might sweep the jets. We might sweep the Bills. I don't think we sweep them both. But it would be awesome if we did!

divison records

Miami 12-4 5-1 The difference between us and the
New England 11-5 4-2 pats will be the split between us
New York 8-8 2-4
Buffalo 6-10 1-5

i mean 5-1 seems realistic at htis point but they won't be easy wins, they never are. but i think i'd be really happy with a 4-2 record

damn

6-0 divisional record.

that's right I said it, wanna fight about it?[/quote

I think that would go along way toward some home field advantage and perhaps a bye in the play-offs. Good enough for me. Wouldn't it be great to play a SuperBowl at home.:dolphins:

I want us to go 16-0. We won't.

I want us to go 6-0 or even 5-1 in the division. We won't

The division games are always tough, no matter how good the competition is. It happens every year!
