The Dolphins badly need to improve the secondary and build a dynamic offensive line.

Mueller has said he wants to see an infusion of youth.

Trade 1: Daunte Culpepper and LJ Shelton and a 7th to Oakland for their #33 pick. Why LJ Shelton? Because he is quite good and the Raiders OL stinks. He is also 31 and we are starting a new offensive system with a rebuilt OL. This year he is worth a lot, he probably has 3 more good years, but who knows. RG will be a good spot perhaps for Hadnot or Toledo.

Trade 2: Ricky Williams and Marty Booker and a 7th to Green Bay for their 2nd round pick. Ricky's testing for 2007 will be guaranteed with a 2008 3rd round pick in case he should fail and be suspended.

So we have traded away almost 15 million in salary although Daunte will have to renegotiate to do the deal.

Four guys all over 30 by next season.

Trade 3: We trade our 1st and a sixth to Pittsburgh for their 1st,2nd and a 5th rounder.

Trade 4: Renaldo Hill for Trent Green straight up. This is my scenario and I don't like this trade, but with trading Daunte we gotta have him or somebody unless Hamdan is really a diamond in the rough.

The draft:

#15 Ted Ginn.............WR/P,K/returner
#33 Chris Houston......CB
#40 Michael Griffin.......S/ST
#46 Blaylock/Sears......OG
#48 Doug Free............OT
#60 Samson Satele.......C
#71 Michael Bush..........RB
#108 John Wendling.......S/ST
#147 Jared Zabransky....QB
#184 Gabe Hall..............OT

I don't see any of those trades happening especially the first 2. Too many questionable players flying around that most teams aren't going to want. Plus, I don't want to get rid of Shelton, we aren't going to upgrade at the RG spot and he and Carey really gelled in the 2nd half of the season last year.

I like where you're going with stockpiling, I just don't see a whole lot of fireworks going off.

You mean to tell me Miami can get the 33rd overall pick for a total stiff like Culpepper and LJ Shelton ? LOL

Of course these trades look good for Miami but they look absolutely horrid for other teams .. I'm sure if Mueller calls any team with such packages he will get hung up on immediately.

I like how u throw the 7th in as a kicker in both trades to make it seem like the other team is getting a good deal. C'mon tho, if u think Pep and Shelton are worth the 33rd pick at their respective ages . . . then something is wrong. Like the mock, but that seems like a pipe dream also, as both Houston and Griffin might go round one. To top it off . . . u didn't draft a QB . . . I mean c'mon Zabransky . . . u really think he is the future at QB for this franchise? With all them picks, I expected a Stanton, Edwards, Kolb, even Troy Smith . . . someone who will play QB in this league.

Some good ideas, but too unrealistic for me.

Wow, I was expecting the opposite with the Shelton thing. He is our highest paid offensive lineman. Some say he played well at LT last year, others say he was lousy. Some say he was moved to Gaurd because of bad play at Gaurd. Others say he was moved from LT to Gaurd because of his lousy play.
The guy who said he played well at LT had stats and game reviews so I beleived him and attributed at least C rated value to Shelton as a LT. As far as his gaurd play I think everyone agrees was quite good. I figured he was worth a third anyway, and then Daunte isn't completely worthless if Al really does like him and wants to draft Calvin. I think Shelton is better than Marten,Ramirez, Alleman, Beekman,Datish or any other projected third rounder this year. Yes, I think Shelton has at least 3rd round value and with the seventh and Al liking Daunte I don't think I took too much liberty there.
Most people were thinking a fifth for Daunte by himself so a 3rd a fifth and a seventh must get pretty close to the mark.

What's wrong with replacing a 31 year old player who is a 3 mil cap hit?

We will have Toledo,Hadnot, and Liewenski to replace him and we can draft Grubbs/Sears/Blaylock/Alleman. I think Satele can start immediately and be an improvement on Hadnot as most agree he is a better gaurd than center.

Last year everyone was raving about Daunte' Culpepper, this year he's a stiff, because the guy got hurt and he don't have randy moss and all of that stuff. The question really is does he fit this system? I don't care what system they ran if the o-line don't protect the QB gets killed, C-pep made one mistake and that was trying to prove that he was healthy when he really wasn't, I agree with the fins for trying to get trent green to run this system so that the team can progress and win at the same time. Unfortunately they don't have time for c-pep to get healthy that's why they will probably draft Drew Stanton or some other QB that you'll be calling a stiff in a couple of years.

Yes but I think Hadnot will have to play left guard because no one else can fill that void. We have a nice combo with Carey and Shelton on the right, draft Kalil for center and bump Hadnot to LG. I'm not sure who our LT is going to be, we need to figure that out.

Culpepper and Shelton aren't worth pick #33. That's practically a late first. We get more out of both by keeping them on the team. All these guys wanting to trade Daunte for a 5th make me sick, we have to at least see what he's got left before we jettison him. Nobody has seen him play since October.

At this point, the best you could hope to get for Culpepper is a 6th rounder. Mostly due to the fact that he still is owed over $50M. LJ Shelton has always been considered a bust as a LT, and he proved it again last year. He is now a guard making tackle money. He would not be attractive to teams for anything but a very late pick. No way would you get the #33 pick for both of them.

Ricky Williams, who may or may not be reinstated by the NFL, has almost no trade value. Marty Booker is an overpaid possession WR. No way would a team give up a 2nd round pick for them.

Pittsburgh's 1st, 2nd, and 6th rounders are worth 1513 points using the draft value chart. Our 1st and 5th are worth 1388 points. Pittsburgh would not make that trade.

I agree with you to a certain point; that is to say I have mixed feelings on the matter. I've been a Dolphins fan since early childhood but I grew up in ND so everyone was a Vikings fan. I always liked Culpepper and the Vikings but I think the Dolphins with a new coach and a new offensive system should do every thing they can to acheive a fresh new start. That is why I like trading Daunte and Ricky. Lets put the past troubles away. Frankly I think each of them would be much happier with a fresh start somewhere else.

Daunte may very well return to form but you must admit if he does not his salary is a killer.

I'm really surprised at the disrespect for Shelton. With the money that went to Steinbach and Deilman this year and not to mention Leonard Davis. Let me tell ya something, I live in Phoenix and watch all the Cardinals games, Leonard Davis STINKS! I have no problem at all giving 3rd round value to Shelton. I think some of you are grossly misjudging the OL market, and this years draft crop as well.

With the guarantee I was giving Ricky 3rd round value and Booker 4th round value. Booker was probably our best receiver last year. I know that isn't saying much but he does have a probowl on his resume. He is a good veteran receiver and that is what Green Bay has said what it is looking for. I agree Ricky is a wild card but so is Favre. In a year when Green Bay really wants to do well for Favre's final season do you really think they are going to want to put their trust in rookies? They are the opposite end of the coin from us. We are retooling and reshuffling, they want it this year, they want a veteran WR and an explosive RB.

With this trade they can draft the TE Olson in the 1st instead of hoping for Marshawn Lynch or Meachem. If I was GB I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Thank god for MOCK drafts. Dont see anything here happening, this is all just a figment of your imagination. :shakeno: :shakeno:
Besides picking Ted Ginn is the biggest mistake in my book, I have a feeeling the guy will be bust.
