first off i am no way a cap expert but looking over our roster we dont have very many players under contract next year around 30-35 depending on cuts/retirements. I have heard that the cap could be 100 million next year and if that is so we could be around 40 million under i might be wrong on this but i looked at the players pay next year and its not very much

Word on the street is 25-30 million under. Mueller said that he won't even be able to spend it all.

Time for a Shopping Spree......

Even though i have a feeling that Saban is the type of coach .. who will be very conservative with what he spends it on.... He will want us to be cap healthy for years to come...

that is without any cuts/retirements and thats based on 89 million i think

Look for shopping like we did this year. One to two year contracts on some Vets that can come in and contribute... just to fill some holes until we have enough drafts to have our own players in all the depth positions.

We will be well under the cap for a few years...

We're going to be about 28 million under after retirings and cuts, I feel. I think we'll be about 14-18 under after initial resignings.

I hope we can get some good out of that. We should have a hefty rookie pay day and then could afford maybe 2-3 big signings.

Does anybody know any big time FA's at our most obvious positions of need, i.e. OL and DB? Also wouldn't mind a stud LB and a young pass rusher.

Actually Mueller said he thinks we will be 10 to 12 million under and that when he was in NO they had more cap than they could spend. This whole 25-30 mill under was started by the writer of some paper and everyone seems to take it as gospel.

Actually Mueller said that he will only need 10 to 12 million.

LaVar Arrington. Reggie Wayne. Drew Brees. Just to name a few

LaVar has been benched most of the season. As for Wayne, any WR worth his salt would have his numbers in that offense. If he goes somewhere else, he'd be average in my opinion. As for Brees, he'll probably stay in SD unless he is overwhelmed by another offer. I don't think we will get a QB via free agency, but though a trade of some type.

Just our luck, finally have all this cap room and nobody worth spending on it this year.

Steve Hutchinson, the Pro Bowl guard from Seattle, would be an excellent investment.

The Fins must do whatever it takes to get Philip Rivers and T.O. Can you imagine?? Oh man oh man. That would be scary.

Yes and no.
``There's just not enough good players out there to spend it on. If we had anywhere around $10 [million] or $12 million, I'd feel really good about our chances to be a good team, and I think we'll be in that range next year.''

The whole article.
