1966: With just $25,000 to his name, Joe Robbie buys the Dolphins and ushers them through their inaugural season, signing every check and counting every towel. Al Davis soon becomes AFL commissioner and calls Robbie's financial miracle "a shell game."

2005: At 11 p.m. on Dec. 23, Nick Saban tells Dolphins owner H. Wayne Huizenga that he's undecided about taking the coaching job. At 8 a.m. the next morning, Huizenga and his wife Marti knock on Saban's front door in Baton Rouge, La.
